40 sedan bridge forum

While some of us think about winter projects I thought I would post some upgrades from this past year. Here are some pics. Some upgrades courtesy of Hurricane Matthew and always a big thanks to Bill for all his help.

Painted with Awlcraft, was not sure if I wanted to paint or not but after a year and no buffing she is still shinny. While having mine done there was one in the boat yard with 10yr old paint and still new. I don't believe I want another boat without paint. Also new bottom paint.

While I had no slip fee and on the hard for repairs. I convinced myself I was saving money. My upholstery would have made it a few more years but I got a good deal and had it done, I added some color so it didn't look so dated. New Flag, if you take a knee by this one I hope your saying a prayer and thanking the men and women who fought for it! God bless the USA!

New teak table, I hated the stock table I could never get in and out well or open the isinglass. I got this one from our site sponsor looks great folds up to slide in and out and I can get to the isnglass to open it up easy.

Then I got a new A128 then my OCD bother me because the old instruments didn't match so I changed out the auto pilot and depth. (I will post the old auto pilot head for sales soon if anyone needs one was working fine)

Somethings not pictured new Fusion 750, isnglass, cockpit cover and sat tv.

Plans for this year- adding a Ray70 with AIS, and another RM E7 MFD in the space below the other. (RM has a refubusih sale) I am so addicted to electronic gadgets. I may need an intervention. Led lighting on the way, going to add some outlets per the admiral after seeing Bills.

Ray O, can you post a picture of the other side of your flybridge instruments panels, everything is looking great.

I can answer for Bill. As Bill mentioned, you currently have the older Strong Seal. Last year when I repleced my Strong Seal with the newer Sure Seal (which is what I have pictured above), I was offered to participate in the exchnage program. They gave a credit if I returned the old Strong seal (basically, they didn't want their old seals making their way into any more boats). So that's what I did. I would ask about that exhange program if I were you. The credit was significant, if I remember correctly.

Anyway, the Item # for the newer Sure Seal is FSK-1750-3500-1. There's a few items you need to get, the carrier, the seal (Item # LIP SEAL 1750), hose clamps, the spring. But the people there are very helpful. You can call Tides Marine (who makes these seals) at 800-420-0949 and they'll get you everything you need.

CWIERT, great information, I appreciate your reply, for sure I will contact them asking for the exchange program replacement. Fernando

I guess the yard that replaced mine pocketed the exchange benefit and didn't pass it on to me. I never said anything about it (wasn't aware of it) and neither did they.

Darn sea ray. Was changing galley light fixture and white wire pulled right off where they forgot to crimp it at factory. Other end is between cabinet and vinyl covered panel. Anyone know where the wire runs? Going to have to drill access hole and trying to figure best place for the hole. Either underneath or back of inside of cabinet.

oh, that stinks. Have you taken off the access panel in the ceiling of the master head? Maybe you can get to it from there.

Too far away. I think I'll pull out the fridge and see if I can reach in there from behind. The switch is on the panel that forms the fridge cavity.

I replaced our fridge this summer. I'm willing to bet you can reach it from fridge cavity but boy I would hate to have to remove my fridge again.

It wasn't a big deal pulling the fridge. The wire is the black and blue pair in the far right top. I taped new wire onto the old to pull it through. I had to cut away some of the black panel to get my hand back there. But I was all set for success. Well I hit a tight turn while pulling the wire and they separated. So I got the old wire out. Tried fishing the new wire through for two hours and nothing. So now I created a new hole and running a new path for the wire. All this because the factory didn't crimp down a connector.

Finally done. Now my old eyes can see when I work at the galley. A 30 minute project took almost a whole day. I've heard that's what boating is all about...

Bill did you add another light fixture around where that cutting board is? The glow lokks nice, abd i dont recall having one......or i havrnt looked hard enough haha

The factory installed one light fixture above the stove. I replaced that original fixture with an led light strip and added a second led light strip to the right of the sink.

Hey Bill - Gary (Four Suns) always says "If it isn't broken, you're not boating". LOL! That's been my experience - 30 minute projects taking a whole day!!

CWIERT, I just order the new sure seal, as you said, I ask about the exchange program, and they did accept it, I order the parts, they gave me an RMA# to send back the old strong seal after they received they will credit 50% of the cost. That is a good deal, apparently, they are not offering that anymore, but because I mention it, they will do it.
At the end, everything will cost me half the price. Good deal.

I'm considering to replace the whole carpet in my 400DB with "Teak and Holly" hardwood flooring. Has anybody done it and if yes, how hard was it and some pics would be great.

There are several of us who posted results of carpet replacement in this thread. Mjmason1, felizdream, and myself all went with snap and click solid vinyl. There is another post of a beautiful implementation of solid wood. Just patiently scroll back through this entire thread and you will see them.

Thanks ZZ13
I found a few and they look really good but I’m kind of on teak and holly train and I was wondering if somebody did use teak and holly or maybe knows somebody. I’d love to see some picks and if there r any down side using it...

My exterior refit has begun. The boat is now in an indoor facility to have minor fiberglass repair and awlgrip sprayed from the rubrail down. To defer some of the cost I have agreed to come in this weekend to remove as many of the through hull fittings as possible.

I understand there are at least three that can be accessed behind the fridge. Has anyone attempted to replace the ones that are accessed in the engine room or the front AC unit? I was not able to access the boat today during my visit so could not check their accessibility. The yard offered to cut the flanges outside so they could be pushed through but I would not want to have that done if the other end is not in an area I can reach.
