New teak cockpit floor

Did you do your swim platform also? If so do you have picture of it? The whole project looks like what I've been wanting to do just trying to find the right source.

Thanks
Steve
Hi Steve,

Same as Thosman1 said: We did not do the platform as it is out in the sun all the time.

After seeing Bow Tie's boat I got a quote too. They sent me a few pics of what it would look like. The price is a bit much without installation...but it sure is nice

I need to keep saving for a bigger boat. Now stop showing me all these upgrades.. I cant focus !!

Well I got my quote and this project may have to wait a little while. It is nice and still on my list but got moved down for now. I was told it would take two weeks to install this in the cockpit and swim deck. The cockpit alone wasn’t to bad but the swim deck is the tough part to swallow right now. Someday!
Yes, I felt the same about the swim platform. The labor was very high, I left the boat for almost a month. By the amount of the invoice for installation it looked like the tech was working on my boat 24/7. The installation was as much as the product. What can I say, I like it!

That what I was told... The cost of installation was as much as the product...I would have done it myself to avoid the double charge... But I really want to grow this boat and didn't think I would get the return on investment for the wood kit alone in the short term... But it sure is nice.. Next boat.. Anything to get rid of that carpet

The teak floor would give a big edge over boats without it, but you’re correct, there won’t be much of a return. If you are selling soon, it wouldn’t make sense. I keep boats for ten years or more so I can admire it longer. Also, investment and boat sales in the same sentence? Lol!

So here’s a question for all the “hydro hounds” out there:

“If you are shopping for a 500 DA and there are a few on the market, if there was one with Teak in the cockpit would you spend a little more and choose this one over a similar boat without Teak?”

My answer would be, maybe. If someone has had the experience with carpet and knows it’s negatives and also knows the cost of teak along with the willingness to maintain it. Then yes. Problem is I think I narrowed the field pretty good. Personally I would value it as a upgrade that I wouldn’t pay full price for and probably look harder at that boat.
