I have a 2003 38 Sundancer and have an issue with my stereo system that I need input on. My cockpit speakers sound terrible (like treble is out of adjustment) but the cabin speakers sound great. I moved a speaker from the cabin to the cockpit and its no better so I'm thinking there may be an issue with the amp?. Previous owner upgraded the Clarion receiver but amps appear to be original. Connections to all components are good.

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Can you switch output at the amp so the speaker wire going to the cabin ones hit the cockpit ones as a test? If they sound ok you may have a wiring corrosion issue somewhere

I don't think I can switch the output at the amp. The boat has separate amps for cabin and cockpit and I believe they are too far apart. I'll try this though once I can get back on the boat. Thanks

Ok, so swapping a speaker made no difference. Suspect speaker played normal when moved and test speaker played the same as the suspect speaker. So this points to the amp or the head unit.

Id find the amp that drives those speakers and look for the 1X-10X button/switch and change it to the other position. It needs to be in the 1X position. Its basically a frequency multiplier.

Correct on speaker performance. I'll take a look when I get back on the boat in a few weeks or so. Thanks again for the advice.
