Hello Everyone,
I'm just picked up a 2001 310 Sundancer and its floating well in the slip.

My question, is when turning on heater/ac unit the system turns off due to no water flowing.
I cleaned the strainer and then found water pump not on when I try turning unit on.

I removed pump and bench tested, it works.

My question is, (cause this boat is new to me) is there another switch that needs to be on at the panel other then A/C unit, For this water pump to work?

Thanks Jason

I tested the power going to pump when turning unit on and no change. I believe what ever tell this pump to turn on is not doing it job. Just don't know what that part is or is there another switch that has to be on for this to work..

As soon as marina turns water on I will be connecting water supply to hose after pump to finish testing system fully. ( I believe system will work just fine as pink RV fluid came out of hose when I disconnected from pump, so it was winterized)

It may just need to be primed. You just need to get water in to the pump itself.
I found the easiest way to prime the pump is to momentarily remove the hose from the discharge side of the pump with the AC (and pump) off. After a second or two, water will come out of the discharge side of the pump. Shove the hose back on and relighted clamps.
Turn on the AC, and you should be good to go.
Others report that just taking the boat for a ride will do the same thing but that never worked for me on my old 300. It’s probably a result of the shape of the hull and the spot where the pump is mounted in an individual boat.
I always had to prime it the way I described when the boat went back in the water.

Thank you,
I will try this out today.
I also went for 2 rides and didn't seem to prime for me also.

The fan on the AC unit should turn on first. There is about a 1min delay before the AC compressor and water pump turn on. Are you sure you are waiting long enough for the pump to turn on?

Hi,
Yes I believe I am, the system will turn off due to no water flow on it's own.
When AC on it gets cold
When heat on it will get warm

But then turn of with PS hi or lo code

I bring this up because you didn't mention it specifically.....Is the seacock open? It is before the strainer.

It sounds like he has no voltage at the pump so this is not related to a priming issue. Do you have two AC units? Also what brand are the AC units?

Good question, thanks for asking.
Yes I do

barros57.....if the question was for me, yes, I have 2 AC units. They are "driven" by only one water pump.

I only have one unit

I will add, I check wires at junction box with OHMS meter and it said 3
So I'm getting power but I don't know if its right.

I also checked with a test light that tells me volts
It didn't tell me what volts just that it had + or - flow.

Redid connections after bench testing pump at home.

Beyond that I'm clueless

On our 1998 450 there is a switch, Breaker, in the panel for the pump itself. If you do not turn it on first, before you turn on the two units they will do exactly what you are saying.

Is it warm enough tho there for the compressor to kick on? Maybe it’s too cold out and compressor isn’t coming on also? Tune u it on, air starts blowing out, then compressor kicks on, then water flow from pump. Is this what u have happening? Or just air blowing and no compressor

Thanks everyone for your input.

I stopped by boat in the snow lol, and removed exit hose from pump and turned seacock to open. Water came out pump and then I turned on unit after reconnecting hose.
It started to discharge water out the side of boat and I had heat.
So it was that I just had to prime the pump....

THANKS !!!

Glad it worked for you. That’s the quickest and easiest way to do it if you need to prime. Some boats just won’t prime by going for a ride.
