Official 320 Dancer Thread

Grose, I have one installed, I’m thinking it was from the factory. I know there are 2 vents installed to allow air flow. Want me to grab some pics tonight/tomorrow when on the boat and post here?

Here is one picture. You can see the speaker and one of the 2 vents used to allow airflow so the speaker doesn’t break.

Yeah that’s where I’m going to mount mine I’m just wondering how they run the wire from th cabin to that location.
I will check how it was done from the factory. Might not be possible now, but at least a reference.

There's AC running to the cockpit sink cabinet. I don't know the route it takes. But I bet if you follow that and fish along side it you'll get over near the electrical box, which isn't far from the amp.

New 320 Sundancer owners in the Club! My wife and I just purchased this 2004 one owner boat. We were those pesky small boat owners who wanted to hang around the boat dock with the big boats and enjoy the social aspects of being with other boat owners. Now with our upgrade we can spend the night and really enjoy all the experience has to offer.

I want to thank everyone who has posted their knowledge and experience.

So far I have replaced the "HD ready" TV in the cabin with a 24" Vizio TV which I retrofit onto the pull out cabinet. It latches nicely and looks good to my critical eye. I also just finished pulling out the old XMD3 radio CD changer. I added the new Fusion MA-RS770 and I love having the ability to control everything from my phone and to setup separate zones for each listening location. I bought new speakers, sub and an amp that still need to be installed. I also plan to install a 32 inch tv in the cockpit over the sink. Lots left to do, but given she is in good mechanical order for the moment and all cleaned up, the electronics will keep me busy for awhile.

Do you have a smartcraft Casa

do you have a Smartcraft capable engine? The water pressure sensor is a common item to fail and gives a specific set of codes, (ckt high, ckt low, pressure low, high, if I recall) but without a smartcraft sc5000, or similar, would be hard to tell. I have had to replace these sensors on both engines, I think they get fouled up pretty easily. I carry a spare now, probably will get 2 if I ever take a long trip. If you don’t have an sc5000, or vesselview, but the engines support one, you can purchase the Bluetooth smartcraft adapter from Merc for 250$, and get all the engine codes, from both engines, on your smartphone along with rpm, temp, fuel flow, water pressure, etc. in both cases, the error code was either ckt high, if I recall. Was the tech able to get the code?
how do I check to see if my 320 is SmartCraft capable?

Call or email Mercruiser customer support and give them your engine serial numbers. They will tell you.
Thank you,,, so I have been computer less and mostly iPhone only for a bit I have missed this forum and this awesome community. Glad to be back

Mine has a sealed 10" sub box under the seat. It came that way when I purchased it and it sounds pretty good

Ok... I need help. I have done a ton of searches and the entries I have found don't match my experience. I am trying to run new power wires for a new amplifer I am installing under the couch in the cabin where the original was located. I ran the wire behind the DC panel and up and out to the pop out panel with the cup holder near the helm. Everything I have read says that the access down to the engine room is in this panel by the helm, but all I see is a board in the aft direction with a small hole. I was able to run a snake thru and I it came up the hole in the panel below the arch speaker and above the seat.

I am several hours into this and really need some help. Thanks in advance!

Troy

You need to drill a hole near where the shift cables go through the aft part of that space. That will put you in the front corner of the battery compartment. Re seal with silicone when finished. This how I did my sub.

Thank you! I got it tonight.

My challenge was that when I looked toward the back of the boat there was a panel between the access behind the speaker and the hole where the shifter cables go down to the engine room. The panel had a small hole for the shifters cables to go through but it was not sealed nor big enough to really seeing what was on the other side. I made another hole there to see what was happening and just on the other side of the board the shifter cables go straight down. This was what I needed. I used my fish tape, following the shifter cables and with some effort, boom I was in the engine room. I couldn’t really drill another hole to get down there because this panel was in the way, but I got there. Maybe my explaining scenario will help someone else in need someday. Thanks so much!

Hello all,
Looking for a little help on the best way to upgrade my 320's audio system. it is pretzel set up as factory for an 05.
I was just in A Larson bow rider (yes different than our 320's) and he had $140+/- JL Audio speakers and 2 10" subs installed in the stern facing the bow coupled with the helm controller by Fusion.
It sounded great!
I know I was looking to have led lit speakers which he did not have.
In summary. what are your suggestions for 1. swapping out factory speakers to led speakers
2. What, where, how many sub woofers.
3. Fusion helm controller?
4. Main receiver in breaker panel? If I get one that doesn't play CD's will it work with the present cd changer?
5. Added amplifier?
I do want Bluetooth connectivity, aux cord and Sirius react would be nice
I have a lot of homework to do. any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

I see a little water and the bottom of the cabinet and at the walk through door near the wash down shower, but the washdown shower is not leaking visibly. There is more water in the transom Locker then there is at the base of the wash down shower. How would I check The Dockside pressure regulator?
Finally got it. The plastic tee behind the transom shower that ties the transom shower, dock side pressure regulator and transom locker hose bib together had a pinhole in the corner of the tee.
Based on local availability I replaced it with brass fittings.

Welcome to the group. You sound very handy. I'm sure you'll make some great improvements. Enjoy

I just finished this project so I might be of some help.

I went with the following:

4 JL Audio MX650 (cockpit)
1 JL Audio MX10IB3-SG-WLD-B (cockpit)
1 JL Audio M700/5 amp
1 Fusion MS-RA770 head unit

The JL MX 650 speakers mount right in place for the 4 cockpit speakers and I went with the matching 10” sub from JL. I replaced the 25 watt Marine Audio amp with JL M700/5 to power the cockpit and sub. I was pleasantly surprised to see Sea Ray had dedicated speaker runs to all 4 speakers in the cockpit so I only had to run power wires to each location for the LEDs and speaker wire to the sub. I got lots of help from other posts here to find the path to run the power wires for the amp to the battery.

The Fusion head unit is truly awesome, expensive but awesome. I located it in the cabin control center where I pulled out the old Clarion unit and CD changer. The Clarion changer will not work with the Fusion. In fact I’m not certain it works with the new Clarions. I had read there is an adapter. In my case I pulled it in favor of less clutter. I purchased black plastic panel that I will cut to cover the old holes and tidy up the panel.

My only regret is that the head unit is too cool to hide. I am considering buying the SX version to mount at the helm to use as a remote.

I think the setup sounds great. My only regret is likely getting the 650s instead of the 750s. It would have required cutting each speaker area which is why I didn’t but the larger speakers do sound a bit better.

My only other debate now is the Fusion radio has DSP configurations for Fusion speakers and amps. The JL stuff is really good though so I don’t have any regrets.

I attached some pics. Let me know if you have questions.

I went a similar path. I used a new clarion head unit with updated helm remote and wireless remote. I used the zone feature to
Connect the cabin speakers. Bluetooth and usb steaming are excellent. Did away with xm and cd changer. Also have the option of nmea integration into the mfd but I kinda like a separate remote for the stereo. JL audio equipment is excellent sounds very nice. I have always had good luck with clarion head units. Everything fit in the same holes and the harness was plug and play. From scratch I would pick Fusion though. It was fairly time consuming to run wires but not difficult. Glad it is done. Sounds much better than stock. One thing I did find out is you don't need the spacer rings in the arch for the mx's. They are slightly more shallow than the m's. I have a set of spacers if anyone needs them.

Your install looks great! That is a good idea to add the vent in front of the amp. Might have to borrow that idea I didn’t even think about the need for spacers. I did have to shorten the one of the screws that attach my radio antenna on the starboard outside part of the arch. One screw was preventing the speaker to mount flush. BTW, thanks again for your help on the power wire run!

Great information. I appreciate your sharing.

Can you give me your thoughts on the advantage of the cushion head? How many subwoofers and what size and location did you install?
