I’m a technician, seen worn cam lobes, burnt valves, broken springs , bent pushrods, rocker studs come out or break , siezed lifter , blown head gasket between cylinders etc.. all can cause popping noise only on acceleration
Maybe try seafoam cleaner in the fuel tank once a year. Sounds like a restriction in the carburetor. Also if bad enough, pour seafoam in the fuel filter.
I will be following as I have a 1999 260 Sundancer. I was thinking about getting a 9.9 pro kicker with electric starting & tilt . Not sure if I should go 15 and if the swim grid can handle the weight
I would like to do the same on my 99 Sundancer 260 except a 9.9 or 15 hp extra long shaft with throttle & shift controls.
I’ve been told that I would need to add support from kicker bracket to the transom. As the vibrations could cause leakage at the swim grid bolts.
