    More than likely it’s a faulty pressure relief valve. I’m assuming this is happening when your water heater is on? I had the same issue; replaced the valve and good! Best of luck.

    Leaving the trans in place seems very doable since the block is mounted up to trans with I believe 6 bolts. Realigning back to the trans would seem like a tedious undertaking.
