    Vessel view mystery GPS code

Stephenm27, I would think you are correct. I did not think that way. We'll see if any further information comes to light. Meanwhile, my anal engineers mind made me go out to the boat last evening. Fortunately, we live very close. Anyway, when I went to put the keys in the ignitions I decided...

    Vessel view mystery GPS code

UPDATE: I was out to the boat and looked at everything discussed above and found everything to be in order. So this morning I called the Mercruiser help line. The tech on the line told me that "boat speed strategy" is a sticky fault. He stated that it is related to the compass and that I need...

    Vessel view mystery GPS code

Thanks for that suggestion. I'll take a look at that. I know the VV was showing GPS position. The speedometer was set to GPS but will check. Probably going to the boat late today or tomorrow. Gary

    Vessel view mystery GPS code

Hello all, long time no post, no issues. Until now. 2008 40 DA, 8.1 SHO Merc's, ZF transmissions. I have been working through what apparently is a non critical Vessel View alarm. Engines run fine but VV always shows "Boat Speed Strategy" alarm. In alarm details under the above alarm, it...

    ZF Transmissions 63IV vs 68IV

Hello I decided to lurk and found your query. Sorry for my delay. FWIW now, the short answer is gear failure that lead to the input shaft shearing into two pieces. I'm sure the gear was first then the shaft sheared. On my first warranty covered trans, I found a chunk of gear tooth in the oil...

    ZF Transmissions 63IV vs 68IV

Alignment checked at .002". I check both sides every spring after launch. My understanding is rotational stresses in the opposite direction to starboard. 68IV is in and running fine. Install went well.

    ZF Transmissions 63IV vs 68IV

Hello All, First I wish all in the hurricane area the best of luck. Looks ugly. I have not posted for a while due to another love in my life known as a 1969 Mercury Cougar which takes up all my time. Anyway, for the second time my 2008 40 DA lost the port transmission. The first time it was...

So let's hear about and see your cars.

It is an XR7 with a 390 4bbl ram injection and Posi. Unfortunately, she is taking a long nap like my boat.

This land yacht is the biggest reason I don't post as much here in this forum. I have been very busy fixing and upgrading this:

    Kohler 7.5EKD Vapor-locks

Yup give it a try its at least cheap. The engine running unloaded will run cooler and remember the gen portion crests heat when loaded up as well. I hope it works for you.

    Kohler 7.5EKD Vapor-locks

Yes, Sal and Insfnds, you guys are talking two different problems. Insfnds, heat soak is part of what you are experiencing and causing the vapor lock at least partially. Our Kohler 7.5 ec does the same thing up here in Michigan if it is not shut down correctly. The first thing you need to do...

    Lake Michigan Rendezvous

Well boys and girls I got out of the hospital Friday afternoon. The Doc. told me lay low and chill for the weekend. So I went to the boat a sat in the helm seat with a pillow under my knee. Today is my birthday so we had people that wanted to do something over the weekend. So on Saturday we...

    Lake Michigan Rendezvous

Hello To All, Unfortunately, I am writing this note from a hospital bed. It seems I have contracted some devil bug in my knee. Basically been in here a week and hope to get out soon. As unfortunate as being sick is, the fact that my work world is getting all messed up sucks as well...

    engine life expectancy

I have said it before and I will say it again. I have a friend at the end of our dock, he takes care of all his stuff. He has 5,500 hours + on his 8.1's. Still going strong.
