    1988 Sundancer 268 .. My worst nightmare?

Not yet my friend. I'm pulling the boat tomorrow morning and hauling it from NY to PA. 328 miles. I'll know in a month. I'm also waiting to hear from my insurance guy on my claim. Keep in touch. Thanks. Jack

I put 27 hours on it since May 8. Ran great. I think something blocked the water inlets on the outdrive and all the other bad shit followed once it heated up. I don't think the temp reached, 220°, maybe 218°max

Yes, that is what happened. Could the lake water rushing in to an engine that is running around 218° bust the block? What is an example of a test to determine if the block is busted? You're right, this is huge money.

    1988 Sundancer 268 .. My worst nightmare?

So I'm on plane, glance at temp gauge rising, back off, settle into water, i shut the engine off (454 big block) and wait about half hour for temp gauge to get normal. Turn the key, snap the Bendix off. Call towboat. ($340) to pull me 1000 feet. Next day mechanic tells me it's hydrolocked. He...

It was hydrolocked, yes. Do you think the engine is ruined, I shut it down as soon as I saw it was overheating.

The mechanic is a good guy. I trust him. I'm wondering if the engine needs replaced? I think the water rushed in like you said. I'm just looking for general info

1988 Sundancer 268 7.4 L overheated, sucked water into engine

I was out on Monday in my 88268 and we heated up to 215. I immediately slowed down, then shut it down. Mechanic replaced the starter, motor turns over but won't start. He says the motor is full of water... Any thoughts?

1988 Sundancer 268 step down pump

There is a pump under the floor near the rear of the boat, most likely under aft cabin, that pumps water out that can't find it's way to any other pump, example, say you spilled a gallon of water directly onto the floor. That water would find it's way to the step down pump. Mine is working...
