    Choke Adjustment?

I have a 89 4.3 mercruiser...starts rough and doesn't want to idle unless I manually open the choke. Once I hit operating temp it seems to stay open and runs and idles great. Are there any adjustments I can make to the choke to keep it from sticking closed when its cold and doesn't need the...

Afraid I have a transom replacement in my near future

Thank you...simple enough to check it out and see and a whole lot easier than tearing the whole thing apart. I am going to try to find out where and how I can drill some core samples to make sure the transom is okay to run this season and hopefully tear into this winter. I trailer to and from...

Afraid I have a transom replacement in my near future

Whats involved with either of these fixes? Complete dissassembly? Not sure where to look at the steering pin? I recently had some leaks I patched around my speedo assembly and am concerned there is water in my transom but had thought it was somewhat contained. I did note that where I had fixed...

Afraid I have a transom replacement in my near future

Wrapping up my misc fixes I noticed a drip coming from the bottom of my transom assembly. Hoping that I can run it lightly a few times before i tear it back apart. My season is just starting and I may already be done :( --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?2zyshn

    Bearing buddies.....missing!

This was exactly what I did. I think it was just time for new BB. I was able to get 1 more slot during my readjustment. Thank everyone for your input! --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?jhjwia

Thanks... I think I did put I little too much in the first time. There is very little wiggle.. I tightened the nut till there was none and backed off just till I could stick the the pin in. Is this incorrect to do?

Sounded strange to me....I thought that's what the purpose of the little hole was to release pressure. I'll leave it the way it is and install the new BB. I did check the wiggle in the tires and everything seems normal.

Has anyone heard of flipping the seals when using BB? My uncle said they need to be flipped otherwise it builds up pressure and pops them off?

    Water intrusion???

Any ideas? I'm thinking of a few possibilities. 1) Seal holes off and shift speedo over. 2) Drill holes out bigger fill them in and then reinstall same position. 3) Seal all holes and switch to Gps only ( I don't currently have one but would be a good excuse to get one....any recommendations?)...

    Bearing buddies.....missing!

Not sure how old they are....I'm guessing original equipment. I did use a 2x4 and hammer to reseat them....they were really tight coming out so I probably loosened them up quite a bit. Gonna put some new ones in but don't want to lose another pair. Thanks for all the input!

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better...lol. I have read just now that some people suggest using some loctite.

    Bearing buddies.....missing!

Pretty sure.... They were a pain to get out and they seemed to take some force to tap in so I was sure they were secure ( obviously not though). I did hit a few small bumps and went over some rough train tracks slowly. It's only about 10 miles to the launch so I drove my route a couple times...

    Water intrusion???

Yeah.... I poked around the holes with a small screwdriver and a small drill bit to get some loose stuff out. The sides of the holes seem pretty solid however when I probe one hole some water came out another. So I believe there is some rot but don't think it's too extensive. I hope to hear some...
