Last week, experienced the same... Same type of 'seaweed', but pickup from water. High temp, overspeed alarm (was towing) and idle speed ok... Noticed different sound, as no/less coolingwater..
Cleaned the intake just from outside, after all fine..
Just remove growth and do a test run
Great news!
If you use gateway, you need j-box..
see my post http://clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/upgrade-plotter-sonar-nmea2000-smartcraft.78151/#post-888215
Don't expect you have junction box, as no need for single engine.. or do you have more than one SC1000 gauge ?
Any pics of your present wiring behind the dash?
WOW! Best investment every! Did some trail runs, force 4, choppy sea.. As advised used Gain setting 1 (less nervous corrections)... All directions worked very well and not active during turn or less than plane speed.
If you fed up trimming your boat all the time, this is the solution! Press...

Today, I installed Mente Marine ACS RP unit. More info http://clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/installation-mente-marine-acs-rp-sundancer-240-2004.87524/#post-988116

Under dash, on right side, installed Negative (-)
Connected plug to ACS...

Thanks for sharing info... maybe my sidewall was opened before and later closed with screws...
Is like IKEA, when assembled, no clue how to take apart :-)
In addition, I ordered the upgrade KISS set, and use the gasbottles... not always have access to shore power. I just remove the canister after 'every' usage...
Where will you install your Wallas? I was checking the same, but despite gas canister no issue for me, don;t want igniter in my...
I have same model (2004)
You can find the screws a bit covered by upholstery... You can feel the difference when checking..
Top, approx 1-2 cm from top, 4 screws and my boat 3 screws bottom (2 left - 1 right)...
Not sure if still have all screws :-)
Yes, you need NMEA backbone, and starterkit (Gamrin / Lowrance/ Simrad) is perfect start.
All your devices are connected to the backbone, garmin and gateway (and other N2K devices)
The backbone need to be terminated at both ends and need a powersupply (12v)
