First, thank you for taking the time to answer all my questions.
I am retired and ready to move south. Original plan was to move to the FL gulf coast but everything is so expensive, real estate, all the additional insurances you need on your property due to the hurricanes, and boat insurance...
So far after some preliminary research I think I’m interested in Allatoona, Clarks Hill Lake, Hartwell, Lanier, Sinclair, and Walter F. George Reservoir.
Thank you for your reply. I'm okay with the 30’6” restriction, but spending a day on the lake with no toilet, sleeping quarters or galley does not sound like fun.
Thanks Frank. I have been using the Rotella T4 15W-40 so we are good. Just wanted to confirm with the expert. Thanks for the fluid publication, lots of good info in there.
I have CAT 3196’s. Should I be using Straight weight oil in these as well? Does CAT publish a chart showing what engines should use straight weight vs mulit viscosity oils?
This off season I would like to get my turbos rebuild due to low boost numbers.
CAT 3196's in 480 Sea Ray sedan bridge
14-18psi @ 1900rpm
Turbine clearance on the exhaust side is approx. (.021”)
Any recommendations on where to take them to get rebuilt in the Annapolis, MD area?
This off season will be my first time servicing the aftercoolers, heat exchangers, trans oil coolers and fuel coolers. Would anyone have any documentation and/or videos showing the removal and cleaning process of these components?
I would buy any yacht with standup/walkaround engine room access. Getting to old to be crawling around on my hands and knees to do routine maintenance.:)
