Your fiberglass cabin floor is not water proof for a prolonged period of time. If water sat in the cabin, it will wick through fiberglass and be sucked into the plywood and stringers. There is also foam insulation between each stringer that ends up holding the water. On mine, I pulled up the...

Capttjmd, I sold the boat for $750 a couple weeks ago to a salvage company. Yes, the the entire boat held water, from bow to stern. Every bit of wood was slowly soaking up the water. All the plywood was rot (aft cabin, engine compartment, stringers front to back) it was a total loss.

Hello all, Thanks for all the suggestions. The problem is, if I part it out, I then have to take it to a salvage yard which could cost me more money than what I made from the parts. (Donation companies will only take boats in original condition, nothing missing so they can make the money). I...

Disappointing for sure. I keep thinking that maybe I am over reacting. But, that is alot of rot. Even if the stringers were not wet, the plywood surround alone would have to be rebuilt around tank and aft cabin. I may put on Craig's to sell whole, but without a trailer, it might be a...

Thanks to all who have helped in this short time. As i noted above, I had my restoration contractor come to the home to place some dryers in the cabin, he then came back with a differnt moisture meter and there were wet spots all over the place. So, I then started to poke around and that is when...

Thanks Little Ducky.. Is there a specific fit chart? I did not see where you could input a make or model for the correct purchase. Are the model numbers in the sea ray parts catalog still good? I scheduled one of our remediation contractors to set up a dryer / dehu and air-scrubber in the...

The mold is bad, but the reality with mold is that if you stop the source of moisture, the mold will not grow. It needs a food source. Once it is encapsulated (with paint) or thoroughly cleaned or removed if possible, you are just left with stains, not mold. Since she will always be on a trailer...

Thanks guys for the info. Luckily, since the boat was free, at this time I am out the $125 for the trailer rental only. Luckily I have some connections in the engine rebuilding area as well as a strong background in remodeling and water intrusion. Budget is always a concern, I don't really...

Hello all, I have big project ahead me and I wanted to share my experience and photos. Along the way, I am sure I will continue to have many questions. The story starts when my uncle purchased this boat new in 97', I was on it a few times throughout the years and I remember her and all her...

Shawn.. I thank you for your input and assistance. I think I will start a restoration thread so I can document and revisit all information in one place. I am in north-east Tampa, and about 45 minutes from the gulf. Aside from the engine, my other concern is that I know water sat in the cabin...

Thanks for the advice. I will pick some up this weekend. I don't have a generator. The next few days will be the initial clean up, discovery and dry out. Removal of all interior cushions and seat backs and exterior seating (except the helm). Then, I will start the restoration in the engine...

all I need is luck and money! little ducky.. where can I find the mystery oil? Just an auto store? Tonight I will share some interior pics, completely untouched for years. My uncle had some cleaners and a can of WD40 on the galley counter tops that literally did not move during a 3 mile water...

Thanks for the parts manual, I just came across that last night, but it was too late. Now I have it easier to find. What are your thoughts on sea foam?
