I ended up buying the McMaster Carr round bumper. I can't remember exactly since it has been so long. Anyhow, the bumpers work really good for cushioning the ladder against the swim platform, the only problem is that they are not very hearty and will crack after about a year of use/storage...
Todd, Are those Mercruiser Manifolds, or an aftermarket brand? That's the way all of the freshwater manifolds should have been in my opinion. I guess the extra cost for different casting and extra part numbers was too much. If you don't mind me asking, what is the cost per pair? With the risers...
Is it dripping down from the packing nut, or is the highest point where you see water on the baseplate? If it's the bedding where the plate is mounted to the hull, thats a whole different story. I would imagine the only way to really fix it would be to remove the entire rudder and plate so it...
I had previously asked for recommendations on exhaust manifolds for the old 7.4L. I was hoping to avoid paying the high price for the OEM Merc set. This is my $.02 on what I have learned, bear with me if I go too long.
I purchased 2 complete sets for my newly remanned 7.4L's. They arrived with...
Here is the back side of where the bolts come through. The plywood is already removed and the wood texture is actually molded into the foam after it hardened. The hard foam takes up the space in the fiberglass mold so when you tighten the bolts there is something to support the pressure. You can...
Mine was off for an engine change. The foam is almost as hard as a rock, i have the pics and number for the foam at home. I will try to post all the info when I have it this weekend.
the cockpit panels have brackets and screws behind all of the access panels. If you remove all of the small...
Tightening the bolts are not that hard. If you remove the outer plastic cover, you will see flat head screws. If these turn then you will need to tighten. For that you will need to remove the cockpit panels, unless you can reach the nuts through one of the access holes in the panel.
That's the...
I'm not sure if yours is the same, but mine look like this
I have yet to find just the handles for them, I could have sworn I saw replacements previously.
If you do find some, post where you got them and part numbers please.
I mounted mine the same way on the Port side over the dinette 3 years ago. Works well.
I swivel to view in the V berth so that there wern't just nuts and bolts coming out of the wall in the main area. Can't really see them in the V berth.
Can't see where yours is, the photo is too small for me...
I have been dealing with my own genny issue. Unfortunately, I didn't have 5 helpers, a crane, and people picking up my parts!
I'm patching up the old Quicksilver after Ron told me how much Westerbeke parts cost :smt021 $400 for parts didnt seem so bad one I found out how much remanned...
Mine is an EC, so my hoses run straight from the manifold to the muffler and then out the side, no check valve in there. Unless there is something different with the Vee drive configuration which warranted a check valve they more than likely are just solid connections between hoses to create bends.
I can second that link. Had a Cobra in a previous boat. Keep and eye on the shift cable from the engine to the drive, if it's black it should be changed to the new red one. I had the boat for 6 years and changed the cable when I got it and again just before I sold it. If you keep the cable...
