1990 sea ray 180 i/o mercruiser

hi, I’m not 100% new to boating, I did it a lot as a kid and young adult, but I am new to boat owning. I just purchased a very nice 1991 searay 180 with 4.3 Mercruiser Alpha One drive. 2 owners (who were friends, one sold to the other) and both were mechanics. Very well maintained. But I have some questions.

There is a plastic box with what looks like drainage located under one of the seats right next to the engine starboard side... what is it for?

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to CSR. You gotta know that we have a long standing rule on here: Without photos it didn't happen. That's a tongue in cheek way of saying we like to see photos of your boat, you and family/friends using it, and the waters you boat on.

As to your question: it's a storage box. The drain hole is in case you put something in there that's wet.

Thank you! I kind of figured, but wanted to be 100% sure. Do you know where I can find accessories for a 1990? Looking for maybe a radio that will fit the existing wiring. It still has the hummingbird high speed transducer still wired, but no display on dash.
 
I wouldn't worry to much about the existing wiring..... it's all exposed under the dash and easy to get to if the 1990 is wired like my old 89 180. Could probably rewire the entire stereo system in about an hour.

Crutchfield.com usually has some great marine stereos and speakers to choose from.
