Shift Cutout Lever

I am having an issue with the shift cable adjustment & shift cutout lever.
1975 Sea Ray SRV 200
Mercruiser 233 Ford 351 Motor
Mercruiser 888 Sterndrive
250 III (I think)
I have adjusted both shift cables to factory as per attached image from manual. The boat shifts fine, but the cutout lever is not operating properly. Unless you move really slowly, the engine cuts out when switching from forward/neutral/reverse. I have tried rotating the remote cable barrel the prescribed 1-4 revolutions max and it hasn't helped. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Can you post a pic of your cut-out switch?
 
sometimes you have to rotate the barrell the other way and sometimes you have to go more than 4 turns but go 2 turns at a time then try for a maximun 4 either way from original position, just went through that with mine after replacing lower shift cable
 
there is no adjustment , you adjust your shift cable , If the switch is operating on land you lower cable is bad
Are on land or in the water?
