Electronic interface module

The strong electrical knowledge would be the drawback and getting somebody to install it would be astronomically expensive. I will keep this in mind however it may be my only option. Thanks

For those that do want to rewire the system ,look into traffic light cable .

I know it isn’t a current solution. But Searay has an outside vendor that has built replacement kits for these obsolete systems. I have used the demos and they are very nice. They come as turn key systems that replace the original switch panels on the dash and modules. They will only be available through your local Searay dealers. You should check with your local dealer for availability.

We are working on a drop in replacement for these parts that can be installed by the owners. Since we don't want to sell you a control box that might not work if your keypad is faulty, the kit will include the keypad as well. Trouble is, the ones with the plastic cover are the original digital control modules. We don't think there are that many in the field manufactured by Grayhill. The operation was sold to another company (DNA) and their controllers were used through about 2006. We are considering two options. 1. New keypad and digital controller. They may require an adapter harness. 2. A completely new analog switch panel and fuse block. This option will require a bit of crimping wire terminals to the existing feed wires but it should be simple enough. Anybody in need of this part feel free to private message or call me.

James,

I had previously posted regarding our company already doing some R&D work on this. If you are interested in working on this you might want to contact me. You can PM me your info or call me direct.

I just tested and shipped two new replacement Electronic Interface Modules (EIM). I tested them with a new peanut keypad and can't see any reason they wouldn't work with any peanut keypad in working condition. I have another dozen on the way and I'm taking orders for them. Price is $550 delivered by Priority Mail. Comes with instructions. We're also developing a 10 button replacement for the peanut keypad which would mount in the same space with a filler plate behind it. This keypad would use the same plug as the peanut, but would add two 5 amp accessory circuits to the boat. It should be available before summer. If anybody is interested in the new EIM please send me an email. james@islandmarinegroup.com

This unit works only with the peanut keypad, not the tear drop ones on the 280-320. Thanks!

So we have a 2006 340 Sea Ray Sundancer and are having problems with the starboard switch panel (it is not working at all) spoke with Sea Ray tech support and they think it is probably the EIM box under the helm, however there is really no way to trouble shoot this issue , this is also what our mechanic thought. As everyone probably knows there are no more replacement modules available anywhere since they stopped making them several years back. Just so happens Sea Ray is able to get a replacement system kit which includes the EIM box and both switch panels for the helm and is supposedly plug and play very easy to install. Of course this comes with a very expensive price tag, several thousand dollars and is only available thru Sea Ray dealers. Wondering if anyone out there has other options at this time?? We are going to replace starboard panel first to see if that will fix the problem but we are told it is not likely but at least worth a try given the cost difference.

I would see if you could swap out the keypad with another one first. From what I have heard the new Sea Ray System is quite expensive with the next alternative being Flounder Pounder which is a traditional switch replacement but it it also up there in price.

Yes that is what we are in the process of doing now waiting on a new switch pad and hoping for the best! Yes new replacement system offered by Sea Ray is almost $7,000, will look into other system you mentioned also . Thanks!

Thanks! The price does not include installation, it is exactly $6,200 plus shipping according to the dealer.

Great! Good to know, funny how could the price be so different from one dealer to another??? Makes you think the dealers are taking advantage of us!

Yes I just looked into this new system by FP and it is available now for $3500, will probably go with it if new switch panel doesn’t work.

The navigation lights on my 2011 350 Sundancer work sometimes, but never when I really need them. The switch keypad was replaced the dealer last year for the same problem. I am now thing that the Electronic Interface Module (EIM) is the problem. Parts guy at the dealer informed me that the EIM is no longer available and quoted $6,300 just for the parts needed to replace the system; that does not include installation. What are my other options?
