Near blizzard conditions last week, 12+" of snow, wind, drifting snow, highs that stayed below 0 for a day or two. I felt like I spent half the week moving snow and dressing the kids in snow gear.

And then this week....rain, freezing rain, mass power outages and now this morning more blowing snow and highs in the teens. I read there are 150,000+ without power as of this AM.

This has been a brutal start to 2019 after a very calm December! My kids have had 12 days of school cancelled. The most days off in the history of our district, allegedly.

I hope this is setting us up for record setting sunshine and heat this summer...

stay safe and warm! summer is coming...

I can relate - here in northwest Ohio. Rain and warm temps last two days. It was 52* last night before the gale force winds blew in. It's blowing in the 20's with 25* temp. Don't want to know what the wind chill is.

There are a lot of houses getting cold this AM:

I drove back from Grand Rapids last night and all the traffic lights in Standale and Walker were out. Homes and businesses were dark. Took a long time to get home. This has been going on for quite a while. Felt sorry for people dealing with these conditions. Hope they get power turned on today.

I look at 3 sites to see how y’all are doing up north.

Last week the Great Lakes had 56% ice cover.

This is what our weather man predicts.
-The new long range European Model that goes through the middle of March and it shows the above normal precipitation centered right on our region…

-The same model does skew temperatures a little colder than normal during the same time…

-That setup leads to snow chances through March

In other words. Another late spring arriving. :(

Just heard on the radio we could be facing a major winter storm event next week in West Michigan.

I don't expect a ton of sympathy from you guys because we've been in Arizona for over a month. We leave Sunday to go back to WA and here's the YUKKY weather we'll have when we get home.

Feel for you hearty souls up north. Here in NorCal it’s been chilly bottoming out in the high 20s at night and even had a rare snow on the low hills. Stay safe up there.

Installed a 12 KW Briggs and Stratton standby generator in October one of the best decisions I have ever made....power went out about 26 hours ago.

Our power has been out sence yesterday morning and not expected to be resorted until Monday evening. My generator has been collecting dust for couple years, now it’s getting a workout. :)
We have a open door policy for neighbors if need to to stay warm.

Hard to believe that its 65 days to launch day! At this rate it will never get here.
Hopefully we get a small break tomorrow before the next one kicks in Sunday.

Be safe with those generators and if not built-in put a chain and lock on them.. In extended power outages they sometimes disappear right from beside you house.

Agreed. It's also worth noting that we should keep them off our swim platforms :)

Sun finally. Power was restored across the lake from us. Hoping others get it back soon.
