We do ours every other year.

So how often should they be replaced? I did mine 3 years ago. About 225 hours. Is it time to do again?

There’s really no good answer for that, but every other year works for me.

I’ve noticed that the ones I take out have developed a definite memory from being in the pumps all winter, but show no signs of cracking or any real wear.

I’ve heard of people taking them out after winterization and putting them back the opposite way, but if you’re gonna do the work, new ones seem a better option considering the low cost.

Yeah, that sounds like a terrible idea for a $30 part. If you're already in there it's a guaranteed replacement. It's like putting your used timing belt back on after doing work that requires you to remove it.

I think the interval is higher for people who don't need to winterize and use the boat year round, but I have no idea. Mine's in the water 24/7/365 and I try to start it at least once a month even if I don't take it out.
