My gut tells me one thing but my budget says another...

What has been everyone's experience with aftermarket trim senders? I read a lot of reviews on eBay/Amazon about cheap senders being mislabeled, broken on arrival, poor construction, leaks, etc., but often as many good reviews.

Does paying the premium for genuine Quicksilver parts guarantee a trouble-free installation?

When I did my bellows and shift cable a few years ago I also replaced my trim sender and limit switch. I was doing the work myself and could do it over if parts were a problem, so I went with Sierra parts including the tim sender / limit. So far no problems with any of the Sierra parts - saved about 20% over OEM.

Had problems twice with the sierra trim switches not sealing and failing within the same season. Maybe just a bad run but not worth taking the chance again for me for the $25 I thought I saved. Oem only going forward for me. 3 years on the last set and only replacing again because I'm in there replacing the steering pin. Going with the Nuwave Marine SS pin kit for that though.

Thanks for the info on these!! I have a set of trim units that are not indicating. I was unaware that they came apart to repair the inner workings.

Took my senders apart to have a look see. Does anyone know where I can get the little brushes? I found the rheostat disc online, unable to find the brushes that attach to the wires. Mine are gone. If they don’t work, no biggie. Adjust the trim by sound and feel.

Alot of the times the wire insulation falls apart then the wires fail! Happened on both my drives with wiring failure, internals parts are still good.

The wires on mine are good. Figured I'd wait to get them fixed (not really needed). Both motors kicked right off once in the water. Now, fix the horn, install the speakers, fix the bushing in the windlass, find or fix the prop rod for the hatch in the head etc.... Gives me something to work on in the summer...
