Official 380 Thread

Congrats Chris. Wish you the time of your lives on your new 380.

Thank you Vince! I am so excited for this boat. Can’t wait much longer, working on getting it shipped. Agreed to terms about Jan 20th, survey Feb 4th and corrections are done. Needs a good cleaning from a winter if sitting

My 380 is scheduled to be delivered Tuesday. I am hoping someone will have info on this. 2000 380 DA, the Previous owner swapped out the cockpit Ice maker for a fridge. Luckily it is dual voltage, but they only wired up the 120. Has anyone did the 12 volt part? what's the best way to pick up that 12 volt circuit? is there a chase in the salon, or am i going to need to use the engine room? to route the cable?

Thanks in advance

In process of going through this now... I was unable to find a way to fish directly from the power panel to above the cabin refrigerator, so I am routing a new wire from the cabins 12V circuit breaker panel through the engine compartment, and up into the cabinetry where the ice maker is now. On my '01 there was a conduit from behind the stereo to the compartment adjacent to the helm seat. It passes through the area behind the cabin 12V panel. I cut into the conduit there to feed the wire to the area adjacent to the helm seat, and from there I have a conduit that runs to the engine compartment (terminates at the firewall bulkhead). I'm running the cable along the top of the firewall bulkhead to the chase that resides above the battery bank, which you have access to if you remove the lower shelf in the cockpit cabinet under the sink. From there just fish through the partition into the refrigerator area.

Choose your wire size carefully based on the requirements of the new refrigerator. I originally ran a 14G wire (which Sea Ray used for the cabin refrigerator), but will be replacing it with a 10 or 12 based on the requirements of the refrigerator I purchased. (Isotherm Cruise 85).

Shipping boat back and need to know the height of my boat, 2003 380 Sundancer, anyone know it or where to find it? without props or with either.

Hello all, this is my first full year with the 380. I got it July last year and had a blast. It has been in heated storage all winter with the battery disconnected. I'd like to get the engine hatch open to check things out before they launch and bought an adapter for the 110 30A to 15A but no dice. What is the best way to get the hatch open without 12V power? Thanks

You can remove the port side hatch over the batteries and reconnect the batteries (which may be the easiest way to open the main hatch). If you don't want to reconnect the batteries; while inside the engine compartment on the port side, you can remove (pull out) the connecting pin on the top of the hatch actuator, which will disconnect it from the hatch to allow lifting the hatch manually. You could also try to use a battery jump box connected to the 12V cigarette lighter connector at the helm station, which I have done successfully on my last boat (310 DA). You may need to turn on the Port circuit breaker in the cabin or engine compartment prior to pressing the hatch button. I can't confirm that this technique works on the 380, though. Regarding powering the boat with a 110V 15A adapter, that should work, but make sure it's connected to the correct leg of shore power (which is the Line 1 side of the cabin AC panel) and also ensure that the Line 1 main breaker is on, and the AC Converter breaker is also switched on.

Hope this is helpful.

RE Macerator pump. Does anyone know the brand and model that Sea Ray used for the macerator pump on the early 2000's 380? It is Sea Ray part number 134858 but that really doesn't give me much info. My boat was converted to lake use by the PO and I am changing it back and would like to find a pump that fits the same bolt pattern.

If you are referring to the pump that mounts to the top, stern side of the Vacuflush holding tank, that would most likely be one of these. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/sealand--12v-t-series-waste-discharge-pump--410878?recordNum=15

Thanks for that link. That particular pump says that it does not macerate but it is called a "discharge" pump. I may need to get on to someone else's boat to see what's there before I proceed.
Unless the system on your boat is not standard, I'm pretty sure the entire system is a 42 HTS-VG. The "macerator" is actually just that discharge pump. You can see the different systems here: https://www.dahlberg-sa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/VacuFlush-Product-Guide-Web_14752.pdf

Yeah, that's what I'm finding after speaking with another owner I know. Thanks again for the help. Picking one up this weekend. It's actually a much simpler installation than going the old macerator route.

Hey Anajamar
The conduit that you had, was it grey and flexible? i see it in the engine compartment, I haven't messed with the inside, just rang a bell with this description

its like a gray version of the blue or orange raceway in this link

thank you!

Looking to be the new owner of a 2000 380 DA. Agreed to price today, hoping for a good survey in the next week-10 days

4-Curious what fender style and size you are using that fits into the aft storage locker.

I was able to fit 4 of the Taylor 10x26 Big B fenders in the Aft storage "trunk", its tight, but worked

No, actually it was black, probably a 1" diameter. All it had in it was the TV cable, I believe. Or its the cable to the search light. It may have had speaker wires in it too, but don't recall.

EDIT-I found a couple of photos from when I had the electrical cabinet open. It's the top conduit when looking at the 120V ground buss photo, and it can be seen in the other photo as well. I checked and mine had only a couple of RG-59 cables in it when I intercepted it in the electrical cabinet. IMG_20190323_162432.jpg IMG_20190323_162440.jpg

Thanks Amajamar!

Next issue. The trim on the port ceiling in the master stateroom (just forward the port closet) is a little loose, curious how to get it back to the ceiling. Here is a pic

Thanks in advance

Chris

Has anyone utilized the cabinet under sink with anything in cockpit, also the cabinet aft aswell.

we have plastic inserts in aft but they are damaged pretty good and cant find replacements.

would be a great spot for a small ice maker.

It may be possible, but there are several hoses (holding tank pump out, bilge pump hoses, fuel tank vent, I believe) in behind there that would need to be relocated.

The cabinet below the sink could be deepend by cutting out the panel on the back which accesses the space next to the ice maker or fridge.

I had my cockpit fridge out this past weekend, there is a lot of room back there
