Ok so I want to do an upgrade on my SV20 underwater hull lights. Sea Vision makes an LED retrofit kit for the SV20 Halogen that comes with the 48 Sundancer. Has anyone done this? My problem is, I can't get the old reflector tube out of the brass housing. Has anyone done this? If so, how did you get the reflector tube out?

This winterI upgraded my Seavision SV20 Halogen lights to Lumitec Seablaze X2 Blue/White. The SeaBlaze X2 will cover the holes that the SeaVision leaves in the hull. I decided against the LED retro kit for a couple of reasons. The Lumitec Seablaze X2 are roughly the same cost as the retro kit. There is more work for install but I did it myself so it only cost me some time. The Seablaze have a higher light output (6000 lumens each light VS 4400 lumens for SeaVision), the lenses on my SeaVisons where scratched quite a bit and the lenses don't get replaced with the retro kit so that will hurt the light output as well. Also I got the Blue/White ones so I like that I could change the color. Looking back on it I wished I had sprung for the RGB color Lumitecs but I am happy with the blue/white.
My tubes came out easily with a little pull from pliers.

So the Seablaze X2 is a surface mount and not a thru-hull? That sound like a much easier way and better way to go based on your input. Have you had any problems with them leaking? I may go this rout and just send the retrofit kits back when they get here. This sounds like the way to go.

The Lumitec are through hull but only require a small through hull hole, maybe 1/2-5/8” but the hole left from the the seavison is more like 1 1/2”. There is about 1/2” of coverage all the way around and the screws on the Lumitec clear the hole left behind by the sea vision fine. I used 5200 due to the lack of surface mounting area left and have no leaks on any of the 4 I installed.

Thanks for the step by step. Is the LED light in the Lumitec's replaceable? I think I'll go this route. I was able to get the reflector tube out by using a reciprocating saw. It was easier than I thought and the toughest part was positioning myself to do it.
