Has anyone ordered anything from Flounder Pounder Marine and had to return it ? Apparently there is a 20% restocking fee . Am I the only one that finds that a complete rip off ? They wanna keep 60 dollars from me plus the price of shipping it back . I tried explaining to them that the boxes were never opened and they quickly got nasty with me and told me to google what restocking fee means . That will be my last order from them .

Hmmm….I have bought a few things from them but never had to return anything. Why are you returning the item?

I bought a new steering wheel for my 06 38 Sundancer . After purchasing it I changed my mind and didn’t think 285 bucks for new wheel and sea ray center cap was worth it .

I do about 90% of my shopping online these days and I’ve never heard of a vendor charging a restocking fees let alone 20% of your money . I just think it’s pure greed . For my particular order , it’s 60 bucks to take a universal steering wheel out of a box and put it back on the shelf ? ‍♂️

Other than them having some new old stock of unique parts that other vendors don’t I don’t really check their site for things.
I haven’t ever been able to find anything unique (original part or item) for my boat that I needed on their site either.

Sheesh...I've had wicked good experiences with Flounder Pounder. Admittedly, I've never had to return anything.

For the really unusual or Sea Ray specific parts I find them hard to beat. I also very much appreciate the info they include within their descriptions (Carling switches and actuators is a good example).

Just last week I ordered new keys for my boat from them. Yeah, I did have to order 4 keys to meet the $25 minimum but they shipped the same day. Nearly Amazon like...

I have heard and seen that electrical parts typically get a 15% restocking fee, but a steering wheel? I do not order much from them due to the $25 minimum and shipping charges.....

Archaic return policy. Reading between the lines in posts above, FPMarine is losing business as a result.

I have bought from them in the past, but never returned. They have leverage I guess as our Sea Rays get older. Their shipping costs are extremely high to Canada so I have to be careful when I order but have found them to be great in terms of having those hard to find things. As an alternative, post the item for sale here on CSR classifieds and maybe one of us will take them off your hands for your cost. (my restocking charge will only be 10% - wink)

Flounder Pounder is the best source for obsolete Sea Ray parts anywhere. It is a small business that has no economy of scale so labor costs add up, particularly when the must receive a single returned item, put it back on the shelf and in inventory a second time. I've done business with them as long as I've owned a Sea Ray and have no complaints.

Their sales and return policies are clearly stated on the website. They don't have the volume to be able to handle returns like Lowes, Walmart or Amazon.com. If you expect that level of service, suggest you do business with retailers instead of obsolete/surplus stock vendors......and read the fine print before clicking "buy".

My prurchases have gone perfectly but I am very careful not to create a return. There is a difference between internet retailers like Amazon, and West Marine and companies like Flounder or Great Lakes Skipper. However I get that we can forget that difference when we click all the time.

That wheel is beautiful, just put it on, if it is the one I posted about here.

Thanks for pointing that out....... I really never noticed any wording that said 20% restocking fee.

but I'll keep on using them.....

Like some said above .... they have a great selection on some unique parts that I normally can't find else ware plus I like that their search feature works with old sea ray part numbers which leads you most of the time to the exact item you are looking for.

I bought my cabin key blanks on EBay. Thought I got a deal even though I had to buy 10 for 25.00 (2.50 each).
Between me, my wife, two kids, a hidden spare and different keychains I use depending on the car I’m driving that day I found use for all 10.
Walked in to my local licensed locksmith shop with the blanks to get them cut and he had the blanks hanging on the wall for about the same price. Actually would have worked out to be about a buck a key less if I bought from and had them cut by him.
He charged me about a buck a key more for the cuts because he wasn’t selling me the blanks.

Similar story except I bought the blanks from an on line locksmith and then had them cut locally. Before I did that, someone had told me that the Mobella key blank is the same as Harley Davidson used on their motorcycles. So I went to a local Harley Dealer and they told me the would not sell me the blanks, because it would contribute to Harley theft. I said that I can buy the blanks on line, so that seemed dumb, but that was their policy.

I never saw the blanks in a hardware or big box store but the hole in the wall local licensed locksmith had a bunch of them hanging on his wall among the thousand of other kinds of blanks. I’d bet that would be the case with most local licensed locksmith’s.

My last purchase with FP was $1,000.00 and I got them to confirm thru email that the part ## was correct for me because I saw the 20% return fee disclaimer... So if it came and was wrong they were eating it not me.

I did similar on a large 100+ piece order. I sent pics and measurements and we dialed it in before we made the plunge. Ben is a very nice guy and worked to help us dial in our order and there were no mistakes!

I've had nothing but good experiences with FP. They have the ability to look up many obscure parts. If I try this with my local MM dealers, they will have no clue and have to call the factory. That was before the SR blowup. I sheared off an underwater exhaust last season and they had them in stock and shipped out the same day. Love these guys!
I've never returned anything but would not have a problem forking over 20% if I changed my mind. My mistake and not theirs.
