Yes, but now that we both have multiple experiences with these smx pump impeller changes, we know that at 600 hrs the impellers look like new and 3 yrs is kind of my self imposed limit on impellers because if we are not traveling they sit all winter and take a set. I don’t like letting them do that more than 3 times. What ever works, just throwing out options :)
Are the SMX impellers much different than the Sherwood impellers? I can't seem to find any information about them on the WWW. I would love to get 3 years between impeller changes.

I don't know if they are much different, but they have held up better.
It may be the pump body is easier on them? I have changed them about 6 weeks ago just because they had 600 hrs on them and I was starting to be concerned about them possibly not lasting for our trip back up north. They looked like new, no cracks, checks or sign of any wear at all. I have been going a little longer each time I change them as they have always looked like new when they came out. The noticeable difference in wear is at the tips of the vanes. the sherwoods would wear a flat spot on the vane tip, the smx are still round at change time. zz13 has also had a set of smx that he ran for a long time that held up well. Water quality can play a role in longevity also so your mileage may vary. The one thing about them that I really like is that they are spline drive instead of key. It makes install a snap. I coat the vanes half way up from the end that goes into the pump body first with silicone grease, hold the impeller up to the pump body, push and twist. As soon as the splines align, it slides right in. No key to install or have to worry about falling out and into the pump when removing. When installing or removing on hard to access pumps that alone can be worth it. I changed over to them when I felt that the original Sherwood pumps were near end of life.
In this picture below of one of my Sherwood impellers that was 2 years old and had about 150 hrs on it, note the flat wear spots on the tips. I have not seen that on the smx even after many more hours. The "set" isn't as bad either. Again, just my experience.

My Systems Monitor actually works (!). And sometimes at the start of a trip, i get a Forward Bilge alarm indication. It eventually goes away, but it’s bothersome. I’ve checked the bilge in the master stateroom and it’s bone dry. So what would be triggering this alarm? Would the shower sump overflowing (which I’m pretty sure ISNT happening, but I’ll check again) cause this alarm? Last time I checked there, the bilge around it was bone dry, too. So where is the actual forward pump and sensor? I know a fresh water leak could cause it, but until I can see what’s wet, I can’t trace back to a cause. I’m pretty sure my boat isn’t sinking :) but as I’m sure most of you can relate to, this bugs me.

Great write up Mark.

My experience with Sherwood were poor, and the impeller would be missing a vein at the 2 year change. My old pumps were in need to rebuild, having a small chip in the cam, and early signs of seal failure.

I swapped with SMX 2 full seasons ago, and will push it to the end of the season for my first impeller change.....the pumps came with a spare set btw!

Mine does it too, it's the shower sump pump activating. I've gotten use to it. It's a future project for me to straighten out.

The AC condensation drains into the shower sump, so when it's hot it's not unusual to hear it come on for a few seconds. Also, when the boat moves what water is in there will activate the float switch.

To confirm this, open the shower sump box and raise the float while some one stands on the bridge. I'm sure you will see the same indication and hear the warning buzzer.

Look under the starboard bed in the VIP stateroom. If you have any leaks, rain water will collect here. Also if the shower sump overflows, it will drain to this spot.

Also, when the shower sump turns on, I'm seeing a quiet message on the system monitor (no buzzer)

Thanks CaptRonn and PMC. My boat is bone dry in the bilge (jinx) even in those bunks. But I didn’t realize the sump WAS the forward bilge alarm. And yes, it’s a silent alarm. We run the AC a fair amount, so this make sense. And yes, sloshing around when first getting on plane would do that. Thanks for clarifying! All the same, I am going to visually check those locations once more, just to be sure.

The shower sump sets off the silent alarm. Turn on the galley sink, and check the monitor. It display the forward sump message each time the pump kicks on. It is a little unsettling to see any alarms, but this one is fine when the pump is active.

Does anyone know what the bulb that is used in the bilge? Is it an 1156? I would like to order the correct LED replacements..

It's 1141. Exact same as 1156 only a bit less bright (18w versus 26w). Buy the led for a BA15s base.

Anybody know the location of the screws holding the stairs? Found the top two. Searching for the lower screws. Trying to access AC filter.

Help!

Found it. It was well hidden by the carpet....

Now try and remember where those lower holes were when you go to reinstall them!

Looking for some help. Just picked up a 2003 40 Sedan Bridge and I have no stereo sound outside. It has the Clarion XMD1 that the boat came with. Is there a selector to switch or something wrong? Thanks.
I know many people on this thread have changed out the XMD (me included), but on my (old) boat, inside and outside were "zoned" as Front and Rear, so, before you start removing sofas etc, try accessing the fader control on the unit and moving the sound between Front and Rear... see if that helps?

Does anyone have a picture of...or part number for the trim tab switch on a 2002+ 400DB - one side of my switch broke this weekend and I didnt take pictures...thinking it would be easy to find...my bad!

Thank you in advance.
