Mercury EFI 5.0 v8
Hi guys,

I am new to SeaRay, just bought a 2006 200 Sundeck with an Mercury EFI 5.0 on Saturday. I have a couple of general questions:

1- Mine didn't came with the buttons in the back (close to the radio remote) to raise and lower the lower unit, I have those buttons from a previous Mercury engine, anybody have an idea, picture or even better a schematic of where I can hook that remote?

2- Mine have the bow pieces to make the front kind of a bed (some boat brands call it Sun bed) but didnt have the cushions, anybody have an idea of how I can get them or advice how to make them? So far didnt found any on ebay.

3- I had a boat with an Outboard before, this is my first inboard and I wonder, should I use and someone makes some sort of "Transom Saver" for inboards? It is necessary? the previous owner told me that is not necessary but I am not convinced, I kind of think in the scenario of the hydraulics fail and be driving with the lower unit lowered.

4- I want to put a second battery with a 3 position switch as I have done with my previous boats but non of them had this massive power cables from the engine/boat, is like a 1 AWS, how I can hook up that to a switch that has regular studs? This is the switch I always use: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00144B6AE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , do I have to get a different one? The cable that connects to my battery is like a 1" thick, I dont like the idea to lower it to a 4gauge and loose some cranking power.

5- I dont found yet in how many hours I should change oil and filter.

6- And last, do anybody have the owners manual of this boat? I found a couple of copies online in PDF but seems to me like are missing a ton of pages because doesnt say anything about the motor, hydraulics, the modes in the digital display, how to operate the boat, etc. The original manual is like that? I am also in the search for the service manual because so far I will be doing all maintenance unless is something serious.

I appreciate any help in advance!!!

If this is the kit that you have,
Just plug this into the trim pump harness at the pump.

I would not recommend any type of remote that requires cutting and splicing as you will be working in an tight space and this will be difficult to accomplish.

If you post an engine serial number and what outdrive you have I`m sure the correct manuals can be found

nop, the one I have is this one:

https://www.google.com/shopping/pro...&ved=0ahUKEwiVyreq7vPiAhXOjFkKHSEoD1wQ8wIItAM

if I can find the one you show and the price is not ridiculous i may buy it because I think will be waaaay easier to just unplug and plug that pigtail because as you said, is a veeeery tight place, I dont even know if I can fit there. But if is too expensive I may have to take the shot and splice the cables.

1) You just need to know if you have a round or square plug at the pump. I can't speak for aftermarket units, but as far as the Merc one goes - that is all you to know to get the right one. It's plug-n-play.

2) Ask the person you bought it from - they are likely on a shelf in his/her house. Otherwise Google is your friend. Or have them made by a local upholsterer.

3) Absolutely. It certainly can't hurt to use them.

4) You can get copper (tinned is best) lugs for large cable to fit on battery switch posts.

5) Once a season or every 100 hours.

6) Check Sea Ray's website - look at years other than yours, too. The 200 Sundeck was made for a number of years and the owner's manuals will pretty much all be the same. There is NO service manual for the boat. There is a SM for the engine - check with a Merc dealer or Merc's website.

It’s about $65-$75 for the Mercruiser one.

Well worth the price.

I use it frequently with the boat in the water, and even more so when it’s on the trailer

Thanks for your help Lazy Daze,

1- I almost have that figured out with the kit another member posted before, definently plug and play will be awesome because is very hard to get there.

2- the previous owner dont know, Google didn't helped me yet and I am new in this area so dont know any upholsterer yet, I was hoping that SeaRay will sell them. Or maybe an upholsterer in the forum.

3- cool, still looking at that because so far the only I found are some sort of "clips" which being from plastic doesn't convince me.

4- cool, I will take a look, but running 4 AWG cables from the batteries to the switch and then the factory 1 AWG from the switch to the engine doesn't affect performance? I dont think there is a way to fit a 1 AWG cable in the switch. I still dont find a picture of that online

5- perfect, thanks

6- oops, I wanted to say a service manual for the engine. The closest I found is the #24 but the #24 shows a carburetor engine in all pictures and mine is the EFI, so I assume maybe the #25 or #26 but still cant find them except for purchase and i dont mind to buy it but spend the money to find out that is not the right one it will sucks. No luck with the Mercury website yet.

The serial number of my engine is 0W351348 from 2005 and also says Family: 5M9XM05.0GME

Found it in Google Market in that range. I'm going to buy one. I wonder, for what do you use it while you are in the water? You dont have the buttons in the shifter? The only reason I found it very useful is when I'm working on the boat or parking it and dont want to climb in to the boat, oh, also here in Colorado every time have to go through inspection. I will like to learn any other use, like while I'm in the water.

In the water, I use a scrub brush to clean the drive. Moving it up and down allows easy access to more of the drive.

Gotcha!

The "plastic" clips for the hydraulic rams are just fine. Merc makes them in some sort of plastic and they are very strong. I'm sure others are fine, too.

Based on the engine serial number you provided:

ENG: 0W351348 4M410GLTT MERCRUISER 5.0L ALPHA MPI
DRV: 0W587776 5121300TS MERCRUISER ALPHA 1.62:1
TRN: 0W439249 6111001LS MERCRUISER ALPHA TRANSOM

The mercruiser trailer clips are great. Fail proof way to keep the drive from falling. You do have to lower the drive so that they are in there snug.

The transom switch is great for the decon stations. Saves you trips in and out of the boat.

Go to sea ray owners club for the manuals, they have most of the owners manuals and parts manuals on there.

Transom trim switch: I added one to my boat - very handy when work on the boat, plush my boat is in a dry storage and invetiably I forget to raise the outdrive and the boat is already covered up.

Transom savers: I have these also, plastic sleeves that fit on the trim rams and hold the drive up. I use them if I trailer and during winter storage - can't leave the drive down in my dry storage. During the season I don't use them much unless I know I am not using the boat for several weeks. I think they help for trailering, not sure about other times.
