I remember when folks were complaining about the low water levels a few years ago. This too will pass. I used that time to do a great job of cleaning up junk that had not seen sunlight in two decades. Our lake actually looks better when it is high. No need to trim the beach vegetation which is a messy job.

It sucks. Wading through 10" of water from the end of the pier to the parking lot is typical. The ramps to the floating piers have been treacherous. People have been placing dock carts upside-down at the gate to use them as stepping stones. All the lights are out/under water, so traversing it at night is an experience, to say the least. A few weeks ago a neighbor was carrying his aged lap dog down the ramp when he slipped. To save the dog from being crushed under him as he fell, he tossed her into the lake. He hurt his arm and leg, but the dog survived. With a N or E wind, 25% to 50% of the parking lot is unusable. First Street, the fastest way to get downtown is often closed. On Sunday the barricades were off to the side, but by the time I got to the low spot I was thankful for Jeep's ability to raise the ride height. Even so, only the center of the street was passible and I checked under the floormats for water. My low-to-the-ground car has to stay in the garage - I have to risk a 10-20 detour delay or flooding it, so it's just not been worth it.

The store and restaurant have had to close several times because of flooding, and that's just the seiche. Don't get me started on the cold temps and incessant rain! Dock vacancies are at a level I haven't seen in 16 years. On Sunday afternoon, I bet there were 30 cars in the lot of a marina with 800 slips. Sorry to be such a downer, but have I mentioned that it sucks!? I've never seen a season like this.

(The transient pier has been better - the sidewalk over there is higher)

Holy.... I'm lost for words.
This time of year we should be nearing 90's not mid 70's. So frustrating but not even close to your frustration.

FYI: I rented the last transient well at MacRays from July 3rd - July 7th.(We're leaving for PIB/CP the 8th..) I was going to use it for the center console but my dock neighbor will be gone those days so now it'll be next to me. You're more than welcomed to get away from your mess and use it if you'd like. For now it'll be an open well those days. They won't refund it. This will at least help you escape from your place for a bit over the 4th week.

The woods in my area looks extra lush and green, the vernal ponds are full, wood ducks, frogs, and salamanders are loving it.....but it's rainin' all the time and cool, the boating sucks.

And then the mosquitoes will start up.

This was my marina last Sunday. A new high for the year for us (as far as I can tell).

Well we didn't have any flooding but yesterday a pontoon at our marina did get caught by the current and flipped and ended up under the dock. It did a number on the docks and almost sank a few other boats along the way. They got the pontoon out today. great work by all involved for minimizing damage and saving the other boats. Ours is at the downriver end of that dock and so far we are still good. River was at 3.7 MPH today according to NWS hydrologic prediction site. I don't want to post pics but it was ugly. I literally felt sick last night when I saw the pics. We went down last night and was there until 1:00 AM

I live in Indiana but I have been following a weather man from Kentucky for the last 8 years. Usually for his winter forecasts since I plow snow. His forecasts are spot on.

"The new European weeklies from WeatherBell takes us through August first and continues to show MUCH above normal rainfall around here and for much of the country…"

I just took this picture of my front yard. Half an hour ago it was dry. 1.5 inches in less than a half hour. 7 inches since Saturday.

We will be headed to Muskegon State Park for our annual trip in July.

I work from home and my office is in my basement so I didn't even know it rained but I came upstairs and it was dry. Went back down and came back up 1/2 hour later and it was wet outside but not raining. Wife said our town was flooded. We don't get 'flooding' here but the drains get overwhelmed and we get a few places with maybe 6-12" of water. All that in about 1/2 hour. And my truck has a bedliner with the holes about 4" up for the tie down hooks. The truck is parked facing slightly downhill and the water in it was up to those holes. And I drove it at lunch so there was no water in it then

Ugh!....if only summer would begin. Leaving in 2 weeks for a trip up north. Not sure ANY of the canvas will come off

Agreed. I've got a Chicago trip coming up as well. Wondering if we'll be boating in the rain the entire time.

I hear ya. Heading this weekend down to Detroit for the International Fireworks Show and am planning on running when the weather will let me. Taking off Saturday morning, returning Tuesday.
Then next week, I am taking off up into Lk Huron for about 9 days. I hope we get some decent weather, I am soo tired of having my canvas up all the time.

This is what the June 2019 Lake Michigan new record high water level looks like at our dock. We have lived in this home long enough to see one record low water level and two record high water levels. May and June set new records. I suspect we will see another in July. If you look closely, water is at the top step of our dock ladder. Glad we placed the electrical boxes well above the decking when we built the dock.
