So my daughter and I went out on the river with friends. Went to dinner then back to swim in the sunset. Coming in I noticed my holding tank was at 3/4 full. Got over to the pump out station and a boat was docked at the fuel / pump out dock. Same boat have been docking there for the past three nights. He always waits for the marina staff to leave then ties up and goes up to the micro brewery's tap room. When I came in I gave a long blast on the horns and then again when I was along side him. He and his teens came down the hill fussing and cussing. We advised him isn't something a boater should do, boaters are welcome to dock along the walls but never at the fuel dock. His answer was that there are no signage tell him not to dock there. We had some words with him after he called my daughter a bitch, as he left the dock I told my girl, see you really can't fix stupid

Only dumb if you told us what you did later and got caught.

What was the dumb thing you did?

I will say, I do know of boats that dock at fuel docks when they are closed. Doesn't seem to be a smart idea if the pumpout is still operational...

I learned in my FD days never confront a drinking person, this time it was four drinking persons. The commonsences was right out the window.

I can't do anything after the fact, I hold to many licenses that took many years to get. It would be wreak less of me over some drunk with his kids

The problem with our broken culture, if you clonked those bozo's heads together thirty years ago and they complained, the cops would just tell them they got what was coming to them. Today they would be moving into your house while you sit in jail and your wife and kids are homeless.
May God Bless America!

You should avoid confrontation. What you should have done was pulled in real close to him (raft up if necessary). Proceeded to pump out your tank, making sure you back flushed some of the remnants onto his deck. Your daughter isn't a bitch -- payback is a bitch. :)

You should avoid confrontation. :)
I disagree. Allowing a jerk like that to get away with what he did would encourage him to continue doing stuff like that. Only by calling bullship on him is he ever going to learn not to do that.

He likely was embarrassed by what he did and came back with the mouthy comments as a way of showing how tough he is. Oh, and BTW, if you're going to confront someone like that it's always good to have a short night stick stuffed in your belt in back.

Ahh...I have a past life too dealing with the inebriated...You are wise to back off...Drunks are the biggest idiots and things can escalate quickly....Though, my confusion was that when you blew the horn, I presume you didn't know he was drunk...It's reasonable to get a guy to move off the dock...If a confrontation ensues, I would just get the management involved and call the police to put him on notice...It takes a real bone-head not to cool down if the police are on their way...Anyway, glad it didn't escalate.

Speaking from experience, cops LOVE to get involved when a drunk has also been a jerk. It was fun to get to deal with a drunk but then when you add in a certain amount of "Jerkism" to the picture that just ups the fun level. :p

I think I would have waited for him to back inside, untie his boat, pump out and go back to my slip.:):):)

Boat Guy I blew the horns to get him to come down from the brewery to move his boat. That's all.

I can't get past this guy disrespecting your daughter, I wish I would have been able to handle it the same way.. but I'm afraid one of us would have carried an ass whoopin home that evening.... Kudos to you sir
