While starting up the port engine last weekend my water temp gauge was already showing 180F...Since that was the first time I thought perhaps it was stuck and I used the backend of a screwdriver to tap it to see it it would go down....

No joy...

So, I pulled the dash and switched the wires on the two gauges and sure enough the port side read properly on the stbd gauge....

I decided to order all four new gauges as I don't know how long these will be in production. And now I installed the new ones and have three spares for worst case...I think I'll open the bad one and investigate if it can be fixed....

It's the simple things...

Silly Question Boat Guy, but where did you get those? I have a couple that are severely fogged, and seeing as I can't get behind the lenses to clean , would just like to replace them as well.

Not a silly question....

FP marine has them....FYI they were made by Teleflex that was bought out by VeeThree....They are still made for FPMarine but who knows for how long. VeeThree told me they were not repairable.

I purchased mine for a discount on Ebay. I didn't save much but it was faster to order as I just had to click a few buttons since I already had all my info in Ebay, and they had free 3 day shipping. So Ebay (usmdandridge09) or FPmarine (searay-parts.com)

Nice! (That bottom left is a little crooked, needs to go clockwise a degree or 2 :))

I would like to buy a new oil pressure gauge. My light is out and the other day it stuck on 0. I tapped it and it popped back up to normal. Just no idea who makes it. My depth sounder is Faria so I'm guessing the rest are too but not sure and can't find it anywhere.

If this is a Faria gauge, they used to have a flat rate (I think it was $50.00) to repair or replace any of their gauges.

Thank you Boat Guy. I'll check it out

Before replacing them, you can always remove them and fix them. If it works great otherwise buy new.

I've done it before and stole the idea from fixing headlights on cars

The sealant failed so what you do is bake them in the oven on the lowest setting(125-150 f) for about 10 minutes. This will soften the sealant and also remove the moisture, then pry the face off gently. Clean it then use clear silicon to seal it back up. Easy peasy

I found headlight cleaner also works on the plastic to make it nice and new again, esp headlight restore kits.

You've done this? It's definitely on the inside.

Looking at the price of the gauges, if I purchase a couple at a time, it isn't that bad until I get to the 3" Tach and Speedo.

This might clean them but how does it make a failing gauge work?

I need to figure out how to get mine out. Tried awhile back. There were a few screws holding the gauge panel in but I took those out and it still wouldn't come out. Didn't want to break any tabs or anything so gave up.

Correct this is only for moisture issues. repairing them is a separate issue. I'm actually waiting for one of mine to completely fail to see how serviceable it can be. (Dear boat let this happen only at the very end of the season)

I've done this to my fuel gauge, it was unreadable full of moisture fog. Actually even with the moisture removed the plastic had some type of "scratches" internally making it hard to read. So I popped the plastic off used just the surface activator from a Sylvania headlight restore kit I had laying around and it polished right up. Resealed it and it has been fine ever since.
