Fueling up boat on trailer.

We buy dyed premium (ethanol free) on the trailer at the local card lock. It sells for the same price as regular fuel on the highway which has up to 10% ethanol. The same bulk plant also supplies all the marinas in the surrounding area with the same dyed premium and label it as marine. It is marked up .20+/liter if purchased on the water though.

Many of the WaWas here in Florida have ethanol free 90 octane gas for marine use, boats fill up there all the time. Typically over 3$ though, a good 50 cents, or more, over the 87 + ethanol. Might be something to consider if available in your area. That being said, I had a Yamaha 200, EFI 2 stroke, on a 2002 boat with a plastic tank and never had issues with 87 + ethanol in 14 years.

I was in Melbourne this past weekend ethanol free at wawa was $2.85 !!! Here outside of Chicago out in farm country I pay $3.65.

Another reason I’m moving to Fl!

Marine fuel is ethanol free for a reason.

Find any ethanol free fuel and you are good to go. Nothing to do with the type of engine, everything to do with the fact that ethanol is hygroscopic and absorbs water. Clearly this would be .magnified if it was used in a boat on the water.

Do yourself a favor and just buy ethanol free fuel.

After 35 years of use, our 1984 boat never once had marina gas in it. Straight 87 octane E-10 all the way. Also, in those years I never once had to rebuild the carb, while back before E-10 my cars needed a carb rebuild every 5 years or so.

Also, no startron or anything else - just stabil over winter.

Your boat should talk to the engine and carb the e10 ruined in my motorcycle or the lawnmower it ate.

Just foolish to tell anyone to use ethanol fuel on the water since it carries a specific warning not to because it is hygroscopic. Consequently marine fuel contains no ethanol for this very reason, and also why gas stations are mandated to offer ethanol free fuel as an alternative.

You are one of the boaters that don't get it. E10 is not an issue.
