This thread keeps getting better.

Guitar is 'relatively' new to me, but I've been playing bass and drums for 35 years. I cut my hair and bought a suit in 1988 and haven't really played live in about as long, but I have a home studio where I make my noisy creations. Here's one:

My favorite ax is the American Strat (which I use in the solo), but the Schecter sounded fatter on this tune.

I have 6 basses and 4 guitars in all. A couple vintage basses, a 1975 Gibson Grabber and an original 1982 graphite Steinberger, in the collection.

Awesome job !

oh yeah....The Grabber (ala Gene Simmons).

Thanks! That Grabber sounds amazing in the studio, but it's like playing a freaking tree trunk. It's massive. Gene used 'em of course, so did Green Day, and ELO .... but I actually (surprisingly) found photos of John Entwistle and Stanley Clark with a Grabber in hand, pretty cool.

Some mates of mine are here on holiday, so we are going to crash a jam Tuesday night for a bit. I'll post up what I am allowed to.
I'm smellin a CSR jam...........

Here's my gaggle of guitars. L to R

Squier Precision Bass knock-off. Picked this up on FB Marketplace for recording demos and playing my own bass on originals. Easier than getting my bassplayer over to the house. This baby was made in Indonesia, before they farmed out all the production to China.

1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop Edition. My Dad bought this one for me back in 1986. Have played the heck out of this guitar in 3 different bands over the past 30+ years.

200x Fender Jaguar HH. Made in Mexico. Love this guitar, sounds and plays great for a NAFTA instrument. Can split the coils. Each humbucker has a pot that can create full humbucker or full single coil sounds, and every sound in btwn. Gig with this regularly.

2011 Fender American Pro HSS Strat. Bought it used on Craig's List.

2016 Epiphone ES-339. Off a slow boat from China. I couldn't afford a real 339. Fell in love with the color and with the sound of this guitar. Also has coil splitting, but not pots - you push/pull out the volume knob so it's either ALL humbucker or ALL single coil.

All of the electrics (not the bass) are rotated through, in the order yous see here, at gigs. Next gig is the Epi's turn.

2013 Takamine EF 440 SC GN. Made in JAPAN. Never buy a Tak made in Korea or China. Garbage. Ask me how I know. This is my workhorse - I play more acoustic trio gigs than full band gigs, so this thing is used an awful lot. This was an ebay find, at a local pawn shop of all places. Traded in my mistake Tak + cash for this guitar. Love it.

Met my acoustic act partner here on CSR. Around 7 years ago.

I only have one guitar, an acoustic. When I was 11 I was helping sort through a load of donations to the children's home where I was living at the time. This guitar was in with all the clothes and shoes etc. They said I could have it. I took lessons for about a year and then was put in a foster home. I took it with me and have had it for 64 years. I don't play it any more (nerve damage to my hands) It's a beauty. Inside says WM C STAHL Milwaukee. He was a seller not a maker. It was most likely made by Larson in Chicago about circa 1910-11. It has a real mellow tone. I suppose when I pass off this mortal coil it will go to my daughter who is a singer in a band and plays guitar occasionally. She has coveted it for as long as I can remember.

We had a good old time. I'm laying back in the middle. Had to give Bucket his room. Just some pieces parts. No pro shoot. I'll let them introduce themselves. If you are around Tampa St Pete you will recognize the singer from Stormbringer.

The other singer doing Humble Pie was from a band I toured with in the 70's

I inherited my mother’s Yamaha acoustic guitar last year with her passing. She was a talented artist and musician (guitar, clarinet, piano) and a fantastic mom.
When I opened the case, I found a half-page, handwritten musical score in her handwriting from 1973 wedged in the strings.
My daughter, the other musician/artist in the family, will inherit it upon my passing - but until then it is off limits.
No picture now. It is locked away in my vault.
Even us no-talent guys can appreciate musical instruments.

I may be wrong but your guitar appears to be designed for nylon strings. I don’t see much intonation with regards to the bridge and saddle. (Lack of slant of the saddle). The headstock design looks to be Nylon string design as well. I only mention it as steel strings exert much more tension to the guitar than nylon strings do. Typically the neck radius on a nylon string guitar is flat or dam near, hard to tell from the picks what you have. It sounds like you have had the guitar a long time so it is probably o.k. The problems would start to show up with uncomfortably high string action or the dreaded belly bulge where the saddle deforms the guitar top due to tension. Nylon string guitars are usually braced pretty light. If you don’t play the guitar much, it is not a bad idea to detune a bit. Keep it hydrated as well. Reduce the chances of body cracks. Sorry for the rant but I like old guitars!

Thanks. When I got it way back when it had steel strings. It needed some repairs so we took it to a local guitar maker and he fixed the problems but took the steel strings off and put on nylon so I have used nylon since, but I keep them loose most of the time. It needs to go back to the shop because its starting to come apart in some places. I still have the original tuners even though they are shot and rusty. It has newer ones on it. and somewhere along the line all the original ivory pegs were replaced. But it still has a wonderful tone. With a little work it will be like new again. Like DWAboat, my daughter is the musician in the family (lead singer in two bands, and she has several guitars) She will get the guitar when I shuffle off. Not very soon though, I hope.

Thanks, I've got a couple more alternate angle shots from the other side of the stage, so I'm looking for time to mix them into a more balanced take. Just the last 2 songs though. For those who noticed, Bucket reversed the order of the last 2 songs, taking everyone by surprise, so it took a minute to get the drummer off of All Right Now, and over to Can't Get Enough. Poetic license. We survived.

By the way, where did you get that backdrop? Need to know how big it is and whether I can grab one. Brother's restaurant (where we did that gig) needs a good acoustic backdrop.
