Marine vinyl with waterproof foam. Cost 350 each cushion. They installed snaps on bottom as well. He has my template if a 280 owners in nY want some made. He made a tan set for a friend using it

Those look really sharp. Great work.

Hi. How name is Roman
Appollon Upholstery out in freeport.

Tell him Marlon gave u his contact. Are you in LI? Good luck with the 280. Let me know if u need any advice. I've taken mine apart especially for the music and electronics.

My advise is to put it on a kedar track as well. I like to keep mine on while underway. I initially did snaps only. Spent 20 minutes fishing it out the great south bay

Never thought of that when we owned our 280, nice mod congrats !

Thanks for the reference! I'm in Westchester on the sound - I spoke with him the other day - need to get back to the boat to send him some pictures. And I will take you up on the electronics advice. Specifically the radio - it has the original clarion (2004). right now the speakers only work in the cabin - but when i switch the amp on the panel, some sound comes out of the cockpit, but BARELY audible. I tried adjusting fader and balance, but no luck. I'm guessing the amp might be busted? I spoke with the former owner before I purchased who claimed there is a way to get it to work, but once the sale was done he conveniently forgot...shame on me. Also, the remote clarion at the helm doesnt work at all.

I am a ways away from yo in Edmonton Alberta Canada

We bought a very nice 1990 280 sun dancer last summer It has a 10.6 beam . We had a recent survey and the survey appraised it 15,000 higher than asking price. Thought we had it made.
My wife of 38 years and I are from Nova Scotia Canada and grew up with boats and on the ocean .
Alberta is land locked and we have been here 20 years now, so it is a fairly good sized fresh water lake we spent our summer days on and pretend it is ocean. We had a 2006 4 Winns 25.5 sundowner with 496 bravo 3 , wonderful boat ,fast and stable.
Not enough room now though that we have grand kids.We don't want a big boat loan at our ages ,60s ,so look for and found a used cruiser with recent great survey. 1990 SeaRay 280 Sundancer.
Unfortunately we started to experienced mechanical issues with the legs and engine stalls when backing up in the dock. We lost it 2 days after putting it in the water last July2nd 2020 .
We had a hard time finding a shop that could take it ,given the time of year.
Finally we had it picked up by a guy who we had been told was a reputable marine mechanic .
He told us it would take about one to two weeks to fix it and get the boat back to us.
In the end we never got the boat back until October 2020, the season was over and it was starting to snow.
The idiot had not told us at the time he took it ,but he had an accident when transporting our boat to his shop.
No injuries thank God but severe damage was done to the camper canvas , frame, fibre glass , radar arch and Hull.
He said it was an act of God and not his fault. but the mechanical was fixed.
He then gave me a bill for $7000 for the mechanical for which I stupidly paid.
We put in an insurance claim , the damage was assessed at @ $20,000 to repair.
Lucky for us our insurance paid.
Then we found out the guy did no work at all ,none of the mechanical he charged me for . He also stole my new humminbird that he was going to install and a 3rd alpha 1 leg I gave him to use for parts.
We had all of this repaired and more over the winter at a well respected marine repair facility.
It will look and run as good as new hopefully.
We are also adding 330 Amps of flexible solar panels for solar power.
Our marina took out their shore power.
We are adding a new stereo, including amp and speakers ,satellite radio , new trim tab indicator with automatic adjustment, (Bennet), new electric flush toilet, Co ,gas smoke and water alarms and senders to engine room. Putting on a new humminbird gps /fish finder Si mega gen 4. ,
Extended fibre glass swim platform , 48 inches out from transom, custom made to fit directly over the factory platform.
It has a 4 step ladder , BBQ pole, boarding handles, 6 blue LEDs, 2 blue lit cup holders and a special seat that goes out ind into the water a little. (Swim Platform Ultra) https://www.swimplatform-ultra.com/
They are very nice, do good work. They have plans for most makes of boats.
We are in the process of trying to take our crooked mobile mechanic to small claims court and get our $7000 back for the work he did not do we paid for.
Wish I could charge him for the loss of a summer on the lake with my grandkids and family.
Those are getting fewer and fewer and much more precious as the years roll on.
we only et about 3 months of good boating here each year.
Plans are to take a trip with it some day to the coast and check out all the waters between Vancouver BC and Victoria on Vancouver island.
I also want to look into some way of rearranging he seating plan in the cockpit to make it more comfortable for all . maybe add a we bar . Don't have a clue how much is involved or if anyone has done this. Biggest issue other than $$$ and plans for the reno is that the boat is too big to get in my back yard at home and the city has a by law that no recreational vehicle including boats are allowed in driveways or at the front of houses over the winter.
So I cannot work on it off season.
Sorry for the wordy message. Thanks for getting back to me , Glad to meet you . Have a great safe fun Summer with your Boat. Cheers. Barry Edmonton Alberta Canada.

Here in Jersey he would be swimming with the fish. What a complete shitbird for doing that to you. May he rest in peace
