Hi guys,

I wanted to introduce myself and my new baby. Just wrapping up the acquisition of this new beauty, and as they say the first and last day of owning a boat is the best day of my life. Well being out of the boring scene for several years, I missed it too much and I’m back in full swing. I’ll be located in the clear lake Kemah area of Texas. So looking forward to the group and learning new things about this boat and the community. My pointers or tips to watch out for on the 420, I wouldn’t mind getting.

Thanks again guys and glad to be aware of the SeaRay family :)

Amir

Welcome aboard... you have a great boat there. You are going to love those mechanical diesels. It didn’t happen without pics though.... congrats

So being a sales business development manager at Caterpillar, I was tossed as I was going to buy a 2000 380 with blown 3126’s, but I opted for the bigger boat with those reliable Cummins. Ahaha thank you. Here are a few snap shots. Have a laundry list to do, refit electronics, new canvas enclosure (which by the way is a big pain in the a$$ to find), new shaft line seals. But hey it’s part of boring lifestyle, getting off the wallet lol.

Thank you sir. I have a feeling my wallet is going to not enjoy the ride ;)

Very nice.... I am looking on my phone but the hardwood in the galley looks awesome.
My happiest day is when it goes in the water in the spring. My second happiest day is when it goes into storage in the fall :)

No your wallet is going to love it... it’s not going to be in your pocket or a drawer somewhere not being used.... it’s going to be outside in the day light in your hand working away enjoying the boat.

Ahaha thanks guys. Yeah it sure is going to be getting used to being open.

Yeah the hardwood is nice, but I need to replace it with that waterproof vinyl, it’s kinda peeling by the corners where the access panels are lifted up. But I do like it a lot more then the carpet.

Good choice on the Cummins just don't tell anyone at work. I have been supplying Cat and Cummins engine components for years... Both are great companies.
My wife has been on this hardwood kick this summer in the galley. I noticed your hardwood stops at the track for the aft cabin door. Are you happy with that look?... Because it takes a lot of complication out of the project not having to go over the track and deal with the curved step into the aft.
What did they do in the master?... Because that's another area that is complicated.

I know right, luckily I’ve had Cummins in all my Rams. But I do joke about it to my NPI team, I’m like you guys, when are we going to pick it back up and produce something comparable to the 6.7 and 8.3 engines. But I always here we don’t have enough money blah blah ha.

In regards to the floor, it makes it feel so much bigger! Def. recommend it. As far as the fwd and aft staterooms, they are the original carpet. Honestly it’s not that difficult, the tracks would need to come up to do a thorough job. The rest is a piece of cake, the contours are a pain, since it’s not like we would be adding quarter round to hide the mis-cuts etc. I honestly think, keeping the carpet in the rooms is more comfy since not much foot traffic, however stairs and saloon/galley is a must.

Congrats and welcome - get ready to enjoy the boat
I hope to be back on Clear Lake soon myself

Thank you sir. Where are you now?

Ha ha ...
My name's Fred and I'm an aquajunkie -
I was on Clear Lake 8-9 years ago with a 37DA then went to Lake Travis with a 460DA for the last 7 years
Now looking to resturn to Clear Lake with a 580DA, I have a sickness dealing with the water
The last month without a boat has only been slightly moderated by 3 trips to Florida searching for the right boat

Hahaha it’s a pleasure Fred. My names Amir. Oh man that’s one heck of a virus you caught. You need to maybe stay far away from me! ;) I can’t afford to catch that disease. It’s already bad enough did the same thing as you and caught the 420. My wallet is aching and I haven’t even taken delivery of her here yet lol. I take a break for 3 years of boating and coming back at it hard again. This is one bad bad problem to be addicted to!
