Maintenance

We should start an oil thread.
Some people are naturally nervous, and want to put magic sauce in the engines, whether it is fuel or oil related. Let them. I worked for a Nascar team, and only one oil passed our durability and wear tests. Several were very close.
Put pump gas in your boat and run it. No need to fog your engines if you are just putting the boat away October-April. Run the motor to burn the left over fall gas next spring. You will never know the difference.
Premium gas is not better gas in any way than regular, unless you have compression needs that require it.

So I have a 73 srv with a 302 ford. Manual and sticker on the engine says to run only 93 octane. Does that apply with today's gasoline?

Missing from the discussion is the harmful effect e10 has had on older boats with fiberglass fuel tanks. Most of the older Bertram's were ruined by it. The alcohol dissolved the tank resins which were then burned in the engines which ruined the engines.
Given the mileage differences and the possible and known issues with e10, I can not image using e10 on the basis of price given the opportunity to buy treated non e10 fuel at a marina.

Yes, your engine still needs 93 octane to avoid detonation.
