Can anyone recommend a service, or an individual who can transport a boat from Hampstead, NC to Deltaville, VA for me?

I've gotten quotes to transport over the road, they will need to take off the radar arch, electronics, props, etc, which I want to avoid. Yes, I know, could be a great maiden voyage so why not do it myself? Various reasons why I cannot, thus why I am looking for someone to do it for me.

Thanks,

What is the model and year of the boat?

Depending on your answer.....it is a 4-5 hour run going down the Potomac to Deltaville from Hampstead. It is a nice trip from the 301 bridge.

No point in having the boat moved by land. Plenty of Captains who would pick that job up for a $250-500 plus expenses.

Thanks, it's Hampstead, NC to Deltaville, VA. You helped me realize I typed "Hampstead, VA" in my original post though.

Agreed, on plenty of captains, just trying to find one ;-)

Contact Rusty Higgins. He retired from Sea Ray last year and now delivers boats for not only Sea Ray dealers but other manufacturers as well. The challenge may be scheduling because he stays very busy. If you need contact information, PM me.

Still failed to mentioned the vessel.....and when...

Curious what the est. was for land transport.
Land was $3600 plus labor to remove props and radar arch. Seemed very high to me.

I'm embarrassed, but only slightly ;-) to say it's a 2006 Cruisers Yachts 370 with 315HP Yanmar diesels. I tried my best to find a Sea Ray in that size, with diesels, that I liked at that price, but could not.

Most of the trip will be ICW, which I am not familiar with and don't feel comfortable plotting/charting/navigating on my own, at least not yet.

Understandable.... That part of the ICW includes some heavy trafficked areas, a lock, and some open water...

I'd advise going along esp. if Capt. Rusty has time for this....It's at least an over-nighter.

Re: the over-land option.... That does seem pricey, and it should be much less going on the ICW...

Though, I want to repeat, you should do this at a time when you can go and gain experience with a seasoned captain. If you can get Rusty, you won the lottery....

If you're still looking, I have a friend who was the delivery captain for Ocean Yachts and has done hundreds of delivers up and down the cost. He is semi-retired and reasonable as far as pricing. He took our boat up from Charleston to NJ. PM me.
