My boat renovation.

Excellent...enjoyed it very much.

amazing work, love following along. We just got a foot of snow down in Rochester, so I feel your pain on the weather.

I may have missed it but have you done any estimations on where the new weight will come in versus the original? Any work needed on the CATs before splash next summer?

Thank you. I appreciate your comments. For the most part we are replacing what we have taken out and may be adding about an extra thousand pounds in plywood. We have also cut the fresh water tank capacity in half. Pretty sure this 25000 lb boat won't feel the difference.
I had the engines inspected but a diesel mechanic before we bought it and they passed. The engine oil analysis came back with no issues and we will be replacing some hoses in the spring. We have a diesel mechanic in the family so we are covered there.
By the way it's still snowing tonight...the winter cover goes on this Saturday.

Been following along, amazing work. Now, What do we do about Kevin and Jason, I’m still just seeing the Michael and Donald show!

Hello everyone. This past summer I, along with one of my brothers, purchased a 1987 460 Express Cruiser with the intention a doing a bit of work on it to turn it into a floating cottage. As with any project like this it took on a life of it's own. My two other brothers have joined us to work on it as well. We are having the best time on this project.
I have a blog now that I post regular updates on.

Click on "follow" at the bottom of the screen if you are interested. We are learning as we go along and would appreciate any advice.
Thank-you for sharing you guys have taken it to the next level you left no stone unturned you all have hands of gold. Will keep watching

Hi Brian
Absolutely. When we have her in the water you know I will blog it. Send me a message and I will let you know when I am there. Thanks for following along.

Hi Todd
Thanks for following the blog. I am trying to make them feel guilty but Kevin is in BC and is coming here in June. Jason will be here over the holidays. I forwarded your comment to them and the got a good laugh out of it.

This build is amazing, your skill sets are shining through.

Really enjoy the blog thanks for letting us follow along. Im just down the street in London let me know if you get board working on your boat and wanna work on mine LOL a new wood floor would be great for Christmas.

I've been enjoying your blog, the photos and narration. Our boat is the next version of your 46.
A good friend of mine had the same boat as yours, but a 1988 model, 46 Express. It had the 3208 CATs rated at 425 hp. Great boat.
Even more of a coincidence is that I live 15 minutes down the road from you in Waterloo. Next time I'm in your village, I'll know that your project is right next to Tim Horton's drive-thru. How Canadian...
Good luck with everything!

Hi Jamie
Thanks for following along. I'm only allowed to do one crazy project at a time. If you are ever in the area feel free to come by and see Becky in person.

Thank you for that. If you are in st Jacobs on boat day please feel free to stop by.

Love following along as you do this project.
Have you guys figured out how much of a weight difference, one way or the other, you’ll wind up with in the end?

I have given it some thought but haven't gone so far to do too much in the way of math. Hurts my head. I have talked to some people about it and the general consensus is that there will be about an extra 1,500 lbs of materials now. I have cut the capacity of the water tank by about 1/3 so the potential weight of the water (if the tanks were full) would be down by around 300 lbs. So maybe an extra 1,200 lbs? Since this boat weighs 25,000 lbs I am hoping that it won't make much of a difference.
