Cummins QSC “low seawater flow” alarm came up today for the Port engine. Cleaned strainer, plenty of flow into strainer, Impellers only have about 80 hours on them, plenty of water coming out exhaust. Ran boat and it doesn’t get above 165 degrees and runs at the same temp as Starboard engine. So, I’m guessing it’s the sensor. Also, I can’t clear the alarm from the SmartCraft. It let me clear it a couple of times as I started and stopped the engine a few times and it cleared but now it just stays on. I’m guessing a bad sensor or wire connection.

Any ideas? Can someone point me to the location of the sensor? Is there in fact a sensor? Thank you in advance!

Jeff,

Here's where I find a lot of info, but after looking through the learning your engine, engine drawings, and wiring diagrams I didn't see a sensor or wire that would cause your issue. Perhaps you can find it, or one of the more knowledgeable captains on here will know the answer. https://www.sbmar.com/engine-info/cummins-qsc-specifications/

Hey Tom, thanks for the input. I posted on SBmar hoping Tony or someone would give me some info to run with. I have yet to hear back from them. Good news is, I just pulled in to San Francisco on a 6 hour run and "Shocking" no overheating. There's a Gremlin somewhere and I need to track it down. Add that to the list! Good news is, I just finished refreshing my entire sanitation system. Pretty much everything has been gone through and replaced with the exception of the holding tank. I tell ya, running the new hose was very difficult. If you need any info on this, let me know as I pretty much took the entire Aft/Port side of the boat out.

Glad to hear you had a good run today with no issues Jeff. I plan to thoroughly check my sanitation system this winter during layup. Hoping all is good, and will definitely be in touch if I find any issues. Thanks.

Great day out on the Bay today wasn't it? We ran from Napa to Benicia this afternoon, November gives us some of the best boating weather all year.
Cheers

Wow, this weather is stellar! I'm in South Beach Harbor for the week and have to deal with DreamForce all week but it pays the bills... lol....Highlight for me is FleetwoodMac on Wednesday.

Let me know if you need any info/advice...I removed the water heater, bow thruster batteries and vacuflush pumps. Cleaned and replaced anything and everything while at it. Probably just for mental therapy. It was a great experience...lol

Found it! I pulled it off, cleaned the contacts and the alarm cleared. Thank you!

Glad you were able to find it, and clean. I had a very similar looking one for the the water temp on the starboard engine with a broken tang, and it was $250.

Wow, that's pricey for a sensor but not shocking. My guess is, when my nephew was helping me pull the sanitation hose through the bulkhead and then re-caulk it, he knocked it loose. I'll take it out of his pay I couldn't fit back there so it wasn't me!!

I broke a tab off mine too and found it to be around that price. I am way more careful when I am working around that area of the engine now.
