Another one bites the dust

Unfortunately he will probably loose his job... I am sure drivers are not allowed to carry weapons even if licensed. For the record I am not saying I agree, just stating a fact.

The fact that FEDEX would not disclose their internal policy on employees carrying weapons suggests the either (a) prohibit it or; (b) have no written policy. I bet it's the former.

Yup, now we probably won't see this on CNN unless they have the dead dude's mama on there telling the world what a nice guy he was, church going, good student, etc. You get the picture.

Thanks for sharing this Wonderful Christmas Story with us. Gives us all reason to be cheery at this time of year. :D

And is not charged with murder. The article says its a murder investigation.
True. I missed that part. UPS drivers are not allowed to carry, but I'm not sure about FedEx. If he's not allowed to carry, certainly FedEx will dismiss him. If he felt his life was in danger, then hope he'd be cleared in self defense. There will be more to this story for sure.

But unfortunately you'll only hear about the dead perps side! The MSM at work!

Would be a Homicide (Murder) investigation here in NY. Always a Homicide investigation when one person kills another.
It’s investigated and presented to a Grand Jury.
The question they will seek to answer with the investigation is whether or not it is a Justifiable Homicide. If so, it will be presented to the Grand Jury that way and there will be no true bill (indictment).

Oh I'm sure there will be people protesting FedEx and wanting the driver charged. After all he was carrying a gun against company policy so it has to be his fault <sarcasm>.

Went to my granddaughters 6th birthday party last weekend at a skate rink/fun zone. Had to go through a medal detector to get in. Felt like I was going into the courthouse (left my S&W in the car). But to have to have medal detectors at a kids fun zone?

boatman, I can understand how you might have felt going through the metal detectors but did you get a sense of safety knowing that everyone inside had to go through the same detectors?

I don`t believe we have anything to fear from honest, law abiding folks. it`s those scumbags that are worrysome and need to be dispatched quickly

Funny thing is, my step-son is a detective and his co-worker (Sergeant) was printing pretty bad under his shirt. I mentioned it to my step-son and he said yeah, I'm sure he badged his way in...lol. So I know there was at least 1 good guy in there with a gun. But I'm glad there were metal detectors but I still feel better when I have my own on me. Metal detectors won't stop a lunatic set on doing harm

This doesn't make sense which is why I would let the investigation play out. He says it was a robbery but who robs a FedEx driver? Sounds a little more like a domestic dispute over a girlfriend or drugs.

Recently, in Stewart v. FedEx Express and Federal Express Corp., the Superior Court of Pennsylvania upheld the right of FedEx to terminate Timothy Stewart for carrying a handgun in the glove compartment of his personal vehicle while performing work for FedEx. FedEx’s policy prohibits employees from having firearms or weapons on company property, in company vehicles or in company buildings, unless authorized by FedEx security.

I don't know about that. Street thugs haven't normally been at the top of the IQ food chain.

I don't think they were trying to rob the driver, he just got in their way, they were after all those Christmas presents in the back of the truck.

Years ago there was a drag racer named Killer Brooks from Ohio that ordered a new set of $5000 heads for his racecar then hired a guy to rob the UPS truck and take the heads. He ended up with the heads for free until they figured it all out.

UPS has a very good "Loss Prevention" department.
