Greetings

Many years ago my wife and I were in a storm that sank our small runabout wood boat. After that my wife was not impressed with water or boats. Fast forward 40 years when I decide I wanted another boat before I died. The wife said ok but I'm not getting in anything that I can set in and touch the water! Each boat I showed her was too small, my 260 Sundancer was the first boat to get her approval. It was a 1981 so I worked on it for 3 years restoring it. The wife got one ride on it then died of cancer. Now I'm a 14 foot boater with a 26 foot habit! I think about her every time I'm on the boat and I am glad she made me get it!!

No regrets

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Prayers for you and your family.

Sir,
I am sorry for your loss. I know of no words to help.
Are you keeping the boat?
Is it named in her honor?

Please post some pictures of both your wife and your boat, if you want to share with us.

Hpcrank, that is about the saddest story I've heard in many years. I can't even imagine how you must feel. My heart goes out to you.

I bought my boat 5 weeks ago because life is short and so many friends getting cancer. I am so sad and sorry for your loss.
The bought I bought 375, is my first boat and coincidentally is named CARPE DIEM. I didn’t even know what this meant till after I bough5 it.
Crack a beer or bourbon every time your out in name of your wife and enjoy.
This forum has awesome support and people and am amazed at the kindness of the boating community. So you will always have many support. Hope you have a happy and healthy new year.

Good for you for following through with your dreams and good for your wife for being willing to come along for the ride. Even though it was only one trip with her on the boat, its great that you've created a priceless lasting memory. Life without regrets - that the way to live!!

No regrets, just found out the other day a friend of mine from high school has Cruzfeldt-Jacobs disease, an always fatal neurological disease, extremely rare, typically only 350 cases per year in the US. Made me realize (again), as did this post, to live life to the fullest, no regrets...

Thank you. Yes I'm keeping the boat. My wife Patty named the boat in honor of our only girl grandchild, I know she would not want me to change it. The boat is named "Miss Audriana". I'll see if I can figure out how to post pictures, thanks again.

I totally understand what it feels like to loose your wife to cancer, I lost my wife after 38 years of marriage and boating.. best first mate I ever had.. Needless to say my love for the water will not allow me to get rid of the boat! and as many of you have said live life to the fullest.. we live everyday and only die once.
