ACR Spotlight

The elevation motor is notorious for failing over time. So much so, that the newer MCU does an automatic exercise once a month of moving the lens up and down. Dave, I've been torn between re-painting it, and powder coating. Let me know how that works out if you choose to do so.
My MCU was behind the lower dash panel where instruments are, mounted right below the main harness

No question if your going to go to the effort to refinish, powder coating is the way to go, especially in a salt environment. The body is aluminum and powder coating will last much longer.

To have it prepped and painted might be $50-$100.

If you still need to get to it, the ACR MCU is located behind the small cubby in the forward stateroom on the port side, just forward of the hanging locker. I replaced my ACR spotlight instead of repairing it and had to pull the new cable back to the MCU. Good luck with your repairs.

Brian - do you mean the small curved lockers to the port side of the bed?
Carter, no not those small lockers. It's a small cube on the port side vertical wall just aft of the bed. The hanging closet is just aft of it. You can see it in the left side of the mirror in the picture below. My forward stateroom TV is on the starboard side. I think Sea Ray swapped the location of the TV to starboard sometime in the latter part of the build year for 2006.

Thanks Brian - and yes - our TV is on the port side.
Carter, that's what I suspected. Do you have the old tube TV or are yours a flat screen in the fwd and third staterooms? Just wondering if that drove Sea Ray's relocation. Do you have that small cubby on the starboard side?

It is an older flat screen, but I upgraded it to a Samsung smart TV. I’ll check next time I’m on the boat - she’s enjoying a winter off.

Just a quick update. The light is back together and operating as it should. Over the weekend I will install it back on the boat. As suggested, I went with a elevation motor I purchased from Amazon, it is a 10 RPM motor and works great. The motor was $15 compared to the ACR replacement at almost $400, so thank you David for the info.

Let me know if you like the 10 RPM. I may redo mine 5 isnt enough. I was thinking of getting a 20 and a 30, as you have to consider the fast and slow speed (at least on mine).

Is there a LED replacement for this?
That would be nice.

I have not been able to find one. I asked ACR about a higher wattage bulb, and they said wiring could not handle it. Would love to have an equal wattage LED with more lumens...

Since I really do not do a lot of night time cruising, I think the 10 RPM for elevation will work just fine. The distance between full down and full up seems minimal. I would be more concerned with the speed if I had to replace the rotation motor.
