I'm in the process of looking at a late 90s Sundancer 240 and was wondering how are you determining the value of your boat? Is nada.com accurate? I noticed the full bridge enclosure on a 1997 240 adds about $1700 to the value. Seems kinda high to me. Or on boats this old the blue book isn’t really that relevant? If not, do you just look at comparable classified ads to determine the value? Just curious what your thoughts are.

The value of nada is...well...nada. Your best bet is checkout the price of matching boats in your area at the usual online sources and figure on getting it for roughly 10% less than ask. Boat prices can vary wildly based on geography, condition, and equipment.

I've always used a combination of nada guide value and as many comparable listings as I could find within 1,000 miles on boattrader.com. Between the two you can come up with pretty solid market value. When I've done this I generally throw out the highest priced 2-3 listings. There are always guys out there selling that "bristol condition" rig for 3X what the average list price is. Those can skew the #'s and I feel like they can sometimes be listed to intentionally skew the #'s :)

On the bridge enclosure - I'd guess replacing the canvas/isenglass on a 240 is probably in the $4k range new? So yeah, if it's in decent shape it's worth $1,700 all day long.

You can check the cost of the enclosure online for a 240 I believe. There are sponsors here that can help out with that.

Over the years I've found BUCvalu to be very accurate, especially when taking the condition of the boat into consideration.
