Boat Info
2008 260 Sundeck 75 hours
Engines
496 w/ Bravo 3
Greetings all. Ive fumbled around the site a bit and cant find much info on a 260 sundeck. I see plenty of 240 sundeck stuff. Anyhow, im looking at a 2008 260 sundeck with a 496 and Bravo 3 and would love to hear from anyone who owns or has owned one. give me the good and bad and what to look for please. first boat ever! Super excited, thanks in advance,

Excellent boat! Lots of specs for that boat under the owners resources at SeaRay.com https://www.searay.com/page.aspx/pageid/162289/Owners-Resources.aspx#ModelArchives

But the 240 and the 260 are virtually the same boat. Same length, fuel capacity, etc. interior on the 260 is a little nicer, with things like armrests that my 240 doesn't have. but the hull is the same. When we were looking, the 260 was a lot more money for the same boat. Best reason for the 260 for those years was the bigger motor option. I have the 300 hp B3, and it works just fine!

Hello Chris... Yes I have a 2007 260 Sundeck with many upgrades. She has the 350 MPI Bravo 3 and is super fast. I've owned her several years now after looking at a 2003 320 DA sometime back.

I am very pleased with my 260 but noticed not many have these now or upgraded to larger boats. I haven't noticed any issues to date but would look at the hours and use of the engine, ie. was it used extensively for pulling skiers or cruising. The one I purchased was used exclusively for cruising so hours on the engine are not as important as those used WOT for pulling skiers. Look closely at the gauges especially the SmartGauge... is the LCD readable? Was the Bravo 3 drive hit on some rocks (look for dings or rebent metal on the skeg). Make sure the owner has kept most of the maintenance records, give them to your mechanic to check over. Other than that if the upholstery is intact and the rest of the boat accessories work then I would say you are good to go. My first routine is to change the motor oil, oil filter, change the Bravo 3 gear oil, including what is in the reservoir, check the hydraulic trim tab fluids, unplug the speedometer pitot tube if required.

The 240 and 260 have some differences as noted, the swim platform on the 260 is larger and swim ladder located more to port, giving swimmers more room on the platform, but most everything else is similar. I find the 260 has more room than the 240 but maybe it is perception only.

Thanks for the reply! The boat appears super clean with, get this, 75 hours! It's a 12 hour drive to see it, but I'm sold on the pictures alone. 99% sure im going to own this boat, my first. Trying to contain my excitement and look for any pitfalls. Wish me luck!

get this, 75 hours!

For a 2008 model 75 hours seems a little too low to believe. Perhaps she was re-engined. One way to note is the upholstery, wear on the hull/surfaces on the deck, etc. will be tale tell signs of the use... 75 hours on a boat would be almost new condition. But you may have lucked out and got a pristine model! Good luck and post some pics here. I just posted my 260 in the 'cleaning vinyl thread'.

Chris.... that is a beautiful 260. You will like the rumble in that Captains Call exhaust, sure to turn heads at the marina. She looks to have very low hours and the price is about right for the model and year. If she comes with a Sea Ray trailer you have a great deal.

Went to MO last week and finished the deal! Boating is Cold in January! She ran great and appears as clean in person as the pictures advertised. Very minor issues for 12 years old. Heartland Marine (Brandon and Beth) were great to work with, I would recommend them. Super excited for this coming summer!

We had a number of 240SD and then bought a 2009 260SD. I never thought Sea Ray could improve on the 240 but they did. We had it for 3 years it was an excellent boat all around. There was nothing I didn't like about it...you couldn't have made a better choice in a Bow rider... Congratulations!!

Chris... Very nice indeed! Love the Corsia side exhausts... I wish I had them on my 260, but I think I would like to make the boat quieter than it is now... So no Corsia exhaust for me. She looks like very low hours as you mentioned. Comes with the custom deck covers... nice! Enjoy her... we took ours out this past Sunday...
