I have Alpha one Gen II outdrives. I recently had the starboard outdrive skeg repaired at a local marina. After I picked it up the outdrive I noticed some damage to the tabs that surround the U-joint. Does any one know if this will affect the performance or create a large problem in the out drive? I have attached a photo to show the damage.

Nothing to worry about.

Hard to say why it happened - it's definitely a new break. It could have been weakened by running the engine with the drive trimmed too high and then finally popped off by the mechanic when he applied pressure. Could just be "it is what it is", too. But it won't affect anything in any way.

I've heard of people breaking them off to make changing out the u-joints easier

Thank you both for the replies. Hate to accuse the Marina of something I might have done.

One more quick question. I didn’t see any grease zerks, how would you lubricate the U-joint? The only zerk I found was on the gimbal housing.

They don’t all have zerks.

They are “greased for life” which is just a fancy way of saying “you’ll be buying replacement parts for this piece one day”

They may have it done it, too. But if they did, chances are better than not that it wasn't negligence on their part. Sometimes things just break. Or, as mentioned, sometimes it's "needed" to do the repair.
