That is a great deal. The guys in our area charge big bucks to template and install SeaDek. I found the template on the SeaDek website for the swim step and just installed myself. I think it was around $1000. Did they have the template for your cockpit already or did they custom template it? It would be nice to just order the material if they had it in the system already.

JEFF, they came on-board with a laser type of device which mapped out the angles, nooks & crannies and so on. They sent that their engineering department who did all the cutting on their plotters. I don't have much more info beyond that.

AMAJAMAR....we have been through one Florida summer so far and the deck has never been hot to stand on. However, we have extended bimini/shade canvas that covers most of the deck. But, when the sun shines on a particular area for a couple hours, the temp may raise 2-4 degrees, but nothing really noteworthy,

We did a lot of research prior to moving forward with this company and got all our questions answered here and on the site and some other yachting sites. The most important thing we learned was to stay with a lighter color. We were told that extended sun shining on a particular area of the deck washes out the darker color over time.

If the sun is shining on the deck for a couple weeks and there is something causing a shadow line on the deck, that area washes out. You then have a permanent color change on your deck. Not sure if I explained that properly, but ask questions and I will do my best to answer. Lighter colors are better over the long run.

I would love to know the led set you bought. Are they available in red. It might be easier on the eyes at night.

Also, what is the RnR procedure on these...? Do you just pry the gauges out and pull out the old bulbs and poke in the new ones?

Thanks!

I couldn’t find the led bulbs I bought for mine, I thought I had bought them from amazon, but couldn’t find it on my past orders

I went with blue, love it, so much easier on the eyes

the guage panel has 6-8 screws holding it, once those are out the bulbs twist out, it’s very fast and easy

I bought mine on ebay for $6.99 and here is the title :10x Blue T10 168 194 LED Bulbs Instrument Gauge Cluster Dash Light W/ Sockets, Probably less than 5 minutes to install. Blue is easy night color but they do have red if you want it.

Thanks Chris and Nutz! I might go with red for night vision.

Woo hoo!

Ordered up the bulbs...thanks!

I am also looking at adding a bit of ambient lighting in the cockpit. I am not really finding anything. I want indirect so I will not see the source of the light. Most of the small puck type lights just blast straight down and there is glare. Thought I could go with some led strip lights but cannot figure out a way to hide the source of the light.

Looking for ambiance!

Thanks!

I have the blue led strip lights mounted underneath the cabin seating and it provides great ambience. wiring was easy and I just taped the strip light up there and then went back with a hot glue gun and dabbed it every 12 inches or so to make sure it stays. Less than $20 (takes 18' of strip light so I ended up buying two 15' as that was the best option I could find and then you can cut it to exact length.)

Just mentioned the LED strip lights to my wife and in-house design chief.

She loves the idea of the strip lights under the seats. We do have a lot of stuff stored under there so it might highlight all of the stuff. For a long cruise, that area is pretty valuable. Working on it...

Thanks!

I Installed these light fixtures inside the cabin. I didn't want to use the 20 year old fixtures and just put new led bulbs in, I wanted something better. Here's what I found and they fit where our eyeball style recessed lights are all over the boat. I bought 12 of these and replaced all the lights. They only take a minute to change out, simply pull the old fixture out and unplug it, then just crimp a spade end on each wire of the new fixture and plug them in, spring wire holds it firmly in place. Price on amazon was $32.90 for a 4 pack of them or $8.23 Each!!!!! They are at least 50-100% brighter than our old lights and no heat and very little draw. Finally I can see inside, normally I have to almost use a flashlight when I'm in the cabin! They updated the look of the interior really nice, the brushed nickel is SO much better than gold! I chose the warm white but the cool white would have worked well also. They are dimmable so that will be another project to install a dimmer switch.
Brand Obeaming
Item Weight 3.2 ounces
Product Dimensions 3 x 3 x 0.5 inches
Manufacturer Part Number O19-CL3-NS
Voltage 12 volts

Then I got these for the larger ones. Really Bright. I love it!!!! I'm actually going to add 1 over the kitchen sink where it's always dim.
5 Pack Leisure LED RV Boat Recessed Ceiling Light 720 Lumen Super Slim LED Panel Light DC 12V 5.75" 9W Full Aluminum Downlights (Cool White) $42.99 for a pack of 5 of them, or $8.60 each on amazon. They are a tight fit, I had to push them into the existing hole with quite a bit of push, but they did go and they sit flush and made an amazing difference.

Were you told that the color that you chose was less susceptible to the "washing out" effect, or more? If I was to do it, that would be the color I would choose too. My comment about the temperature in the sun was based on standing on a SeaDeck platform in the sun and not finding it hot at all (at least not so hot you can't stand on it), versus another product which was so hot that I could feel the bottoms of my feet for hours later (not kidding).

Well, just took the boat out for the first time since we splashed it. Noticed a little different sound out of the transmissions while pulling out of the slip. Just had the props reworked, and cutlass bearings done so wasn’t sure if that was causing it. Got out of the marina and slowly worked it up to 3000 rpm. Was noticing a bit of a high pitch sound out of the Strb tranny. Then all of a sudden we just stopped. After I picked myself up off of the dash, I pulled the throttles back and put it in neutral. Both engines were still running. I went to put it back in gear and nothing out of the strb side. Popped the hatch to take a look and had the wife put each side in gear. Getting nothing out of the strb when it is shifted in fwd or rev. I can actually turn the shaft by hand when it is put in gear. Also noticing a rattling noise out of the transmission while the engine is idling. These are quicksilver remans with about 420 hours. Fluid levels are good. I just serviced them, no water in the fluid that I can see. Already talked to the mechanic, (he helped us get it back in the slip) and he says just pull it and replace. Anyone had a similar issue? Pretty bummed out, just got the boat back in after 2 months of work.

We are putting the boat back in the water today...it's 28 deg F. Cold for us but mainly, no wind! It's been blowing a lot here.

My electrical guy is going to use a ACR (Automatic Charging Relay) in the system so I will have start batteries, separate house and a way to use the two start batteries for the stern thruster. And, they will get charged properly.

Another item we are working on is the carpeting. The cockpit was looking pretty shabby and worn with stains. We went with the Corinthian poly weave with a rubber backing that is good for the exterior. We templated the areas and they matched them up with their patterns. The cockpit area is all in place except I pulled all the snaps and need to fill the holes. Then clean the area with alcohol for the 3M stick down hook and loop fastening system.

The interior is the same weave and color except it has a felt backing and is to be glued down. The felt is for sound and temperature. The roll is still in the salon...need to find an installer.

My wife did all the research and this carpeting really updated the look and feel of the boat. It does not stain like regular carpet.

Cheers!
can you tell me where you purchased the salon carpet?

Prayers for a fast repair, that stinks, but at least you have weather that allows to boat through the winter. I put mine away October 26th, and i am probably 6 weeks away from getting her out of the slip...
good luck, hoping its something simple

Roch,

It is from Corinthian Marine...they are in Portland, OR and I think they manufacture in Atlanta. We purchased direct from them. The felt back for the salon is the same as the Aqua Back that we have up in the cockpit.

The guys who are doing the cushions love it. They sell lots of Corinthian and have happy customers. The Upholstery guys come highly recommended by the Sea Ray dealer here.

They just told us they have new samples from Sunbrella in a new marine vinyl. We will see next week.

It should bring the boat into the modern era...

A question for you guys that have replaced your gauge lights, do the lights only turn on with your running lights? Mine were so dim I was having a herd time seeing that they were on. I kind of would like than to turn on when I hit the "electric" button that fires up the Raymarine depth and speed etc.

Cheers!

Only work when running lights, iirc

Have you used the dimmer switch and got them to full brilliance?
