Am I the only one that never uses the cockpit table?

I really enjoy working with wood. I see these super slick projects to build nice, custom cockpit tables. I really want to do it...but I can't.

I have never left my cockpit table in place. If I install it for a special occasion it comes down immediately after. With three kids aboard it makes movement in the cockpit unpleasant, especially when at anchor for a swim.

Am I the only guy whose cockpit table never sees the light of day?

I leave the small cocktail table in place in the cockpit and then have another smaller folding table that we bring out. I find the full size cockpit table to be too big.

I leave the big FG table stowed unless we have dinner out there and have the corian table from the mid-cabin in the cockpit 24/7.

I think it depends greatly on the layout. I would often leave the table installed on my AJ, but it was a small round one and there was lots of space. My mooring mate never installs theirs.

Sometimes I need the big table for "breakfast."

On our 340da we only put it up for dinner or drinks now and then but mostly had it stowed. It made it harder to get around the U-shaped seating while underway.
We have a large cockpit on the 520DB so now it stays out all the time. It is on a weighted base that we can move it around the cockpit depending on what we are doing at the time and we like that a lot.

It never fails...I learn something from these posts. I had no idea the mid-cabin table would fit outside in the cockpit. I'm going to have to try this. I wonder if it's small enough to not annoy the living crap out of me. Good stuff.

@RollerCoastr .....that is a great pic. Dock neighbors like you can be dangerous. Judging by the angle of the sun...I'd say that's a solid 9AM kickoff! ha.

Nice breakfast!

Luckily we have a table on the helm deck and with a galley-up layout so don't set up the cockpit table very often.

Odd, I never stow mine since it gets used constantly, either at the dock, at anchor or at cocktail cruise speed.

I use mine at anchor and it is stowed the rest of the time. If we have a lot of people on board, I do agree it gets in the way. I like the idea of a smaller one for normal usage. I think I may order or maybe build a smaller round one that can be stowed easily.

We have a pretty big cockpit but no dedicated cockpit table. I do have a folding table that we set up once in a blue moon, but most of the time it's folded and in the corner.

I made a small round table we leave up. No corner for the little guy to smash his head on and frees up quite a bit of space. The FG table in our 290 makes the back seating like a booth, which I hate.

stock table in my 310 weighs a ton PIA to store so I made this cherry one for my boat maple and rosewood one for a friend
