I just go a 2000 270 Sundancer and I have a few questions:
1. There is water around the outside of the shower bilge box (see attachment 80468). Is this normal? How do I remove it (I don't see another pump, other than the one in the engine compartment).
2. There is a breaker marked sump pump, but I don't know where the pump is or what it is for (couldn't find anything in the owner's manual)?
3. What is the Control Station Main in the 12v circuit panel (see attachment 80467) and is there a sub panel for the 12v fuses (I didn't see any except for the push buttons on the dash above the switches at the helm)?

I'd imagine your shower pump is the "sump" pump. And no, there really shouldn't be water around it. Is the pump working if you pop the lid and manually move the float switch? If the pump stopped working (which is very common) that may be where you water is coming from. Replace the pump and switch, make sure your wiring is water tight and clean up the water. Good to go. If the pump is working you've got water coming from somewhere else...which can be tricky to find.

On fuses - you probably have a bank of fuses at the helm and also, maybe, in the engine room?

This is the parts manual for your boat. https://s3.amazonaws.com/srweb-pvt-...ic/parts-manuals/2000__2000-270-SUNDANCER.pdf

Page 24 shows that Main DC electric panel. The Control Station Main is a 50A breaker. I think that is the main DC breaker for all the DC switch gear at your dashboard. All of those dash switches are separate circuits that are separately fused / breakered, generally right above the rocker switch. Pages 20-23 show those switches and their associated fuses / breakers.

Thanks for your reply. The shower sump is empty (we haven't used it yet) but there is water around it and don't know how the boat was designed to get the water out of there.

Didn't find a fuse panel in the engine room. Don't know where the fuse is for the cabin 12v lights.

My lid would never seem to fit just right, couple that with the pump getting gummy and sticking and you get water outside the box. Check to make sure the float goes on and off easily..take a few paper towels and dry it then run water down the drains to check.

If your pump and-or float is dead you might consider replacing the whole assembly with the new one. The sump box you have is the Rule design that was around for like 25 years. Its a pain to service. The lid attaches with 4 screws that were always a PITA for me to remove. It wasn't gasketed either so water could slosh out. Since the lid was screwed in, cleaning the strainer didn't happen as often as it should. The float was also screwed in to so changing it was not fun.

Rule has released an updated design that address these problems and some others. Such as snap-on gasketed lid, snap-in float, easier screen removal (no more tube!). One improvement I noticed is that the attachment brackets on the old box were pretty week. I broke them on a couple boxes just from moderate seas. The new design has exterior ribs that look stronger than the old design. I also had trouble with the rubber anti-backflow joker valve. The new one is supposed to be larger in diameter.

Edit: Maintenance tip. Pour some bilge cleaner in there now and then to keep things clear. And don't ever use bar soap in the shower - only shower gel. Bar soap gums things up like crazy.

Tell this to people who cook on boat and pour old grease to sink. Many expensive service calls.
