I have a 2004 320. The door going down to the salon is pretty hard to slide. It seems in the past on my prior boat a few years back I used some sort of lubricant.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks.

Check the rollers. I use silicone

You shouldn’t need lubricant at all. Sounds like you need to clean and replace the broken trucks, trains, and or tracks. It’s all available on flounder plunder

Take a water hose and blast the top and especially the bottom track good. Likely full of hair, trash, dirt, etc. Allow them to dry good. HD sells a product that says “Dry Teflon” in a spray can. Spray the tracks with that and you will have the best you can have short of replacing hardware.

Just replaced my tracks and trucks. Everything original is made from plastic and nylon. The trucks get all full of dirt n grime and the little ball bearings (metal) chew the truck material up. Be careful using anything petroleum based as it will seem to make things better at first, but eat at and break down the plastic in the long run. Replacing new isn't cheap. FP sells a kit that includes tracks (aluminum) trucks and the piece that goes on the bottom of the door. The kit for my 340 was $375.00. FP suggested doing the kit as their trucks are not the same size and do not fit the original tracks properly. One finger operation now.

This is what the trucks look like. Tiaras have a door shroud that is easily removalable so you can clean the track out. As others have mentioned, dirt gets in the track. These don't usually wear out, but after a couple of years they may require cleaning especially if you have pets. We have cleaned ours just one time in 15 years.

It all depends on reason why is stiff. It could be rollers, but also could be loose screw holding roller in place and rubbing inside track or something loose under helm what prevents doir sliding freely.

As I remember it wasn't hard sliding the whole way open...just in spots. I am hoping that indicates it is just dirty!

Had same issue with the 340, tried a new truck, but was destroyed in one weekend. Looks like new track is on the list this spring.

Got my replacements last year @ Flounder Pounder marine. It says to replace the trucks, rollers and tracks as the replacements are slightly different than the originals and will not work smoothly if only replacing individual items. I remember I called them and they were very helpful. Installation on my 340 was pretty easy. Took an afternoon and cabin door is now a 1 finger operation.
See if this link will take you too what I got: https://www.searay-parts.com/Plasti...-rollers-p/door-trackset-single-truck-sys.htm

Another thing to check, if it snags in spots the screws holding the track in can back out and the trucks hang up. I tighten ours a couple times a year.

you could probably put a dot of glue on the threads but it’s no big deal to tighten them so I don’t bother

Korkie, I think the "replace the entire system" approach is sound. The new truck I ordered was from FP which destroyed itself in one weekend. The little rubber wheels ripped off the axles and the bearings just fell into the track. Good to hear it is only an afternoon job to replace both tracks. I will say I tried all sorts of dry lubricants to make the door livable but that only provided 50% improvement for a short time. My spring list of to-dos is growing......

I tried all the lubricants, took them off and blew them out, talked nice to them, the works. Replacement was inevitable. Some of the screws are difficult to get to. Of course take the door off first. Some screws you will access through the helm access door and will be challenging. I used a small drill driver with different extensions. When I put the new tracks on, I put a small dab of sealant on the tip of the screws.
You will need the exact length of the upper and lower tracks when you place your order. They cut them to size for you. You will also need to drill holes in the new tracks. Just marry the old with the new back to back and use as a template. Pretty straight forward. You will enjoy the results, I know we are.
