Just wondering if anyone wishes to share what they are paying for Insurance in SE Florida for this class of boat. Just got a renewal notice of $7000 for my 470. Seems excessive??? Any thoughts would be appreciated. If you wish to PM me with info that's cool, too.
Thanks

I pay $850 per year for a 35 footer. I switched to NBOA and they use Chubb Insurance. If you're not a member, call them and join and see what they can do.

how is that in the least bit relevant to his question - you have a boat that is worth less and is1200 miles north of the area he is in which is wrought with storms and congested with many boaters that have no business being on the water.....

He was offering a point of reference... I think your reply has no business being here. This is a friendly community on this site lets try to keep it that way ?

I'm in the water year around my value is stated @ $150k and my insurance is with Travelers $1500 deduct. @ $1,000.00 per year premium. This is just for a point reference as I realize we are at opposite ends of the country and your boat is quite a bit newer than mine.

Do you mind to share company?

Give Charter Lakes in Michigan a call. They are a great broker and have many companies to choose from.

Just call Flo and her damn Name Your Price Tool.

I know I have to sit through those damn annoying commercials enough so at least one of us should get a break.

seriously though, I know with both my boat and RV, I got drastically differing quotes from companies based on replacement cost type, deductible, length of season, etc. Have you done a point-to-point comparison to other policies?

All in all, $583 per month, if you have a high-end policy, with the value of that boat, doesn’t sound out the box.

Sometimes ya get what ya pay for. I’m paying 3600 for my 2005 390MY, last Nov the stbd engine dropped an exhaust valve seat, 22k to fix, Insurance paid 18k. My policy has coverage that covers unplanned mechanical failure.

Would you mind sharing the company??

AIG and the premium dropped to 3100 as I extended the lay up to 6/1. The MD governor is prohibiting recreational boating in the bay and my marina is prohibiting slip owners from entering the property

Can we rely on any statistics to find out a level of insurance for a Rinker? I own 1 and currently have a guarantee price of $ 900 - 1 year. It seems a bit expensive and overwhelming to me. Is it really necessary and necessary to own it? Someone if possible please analyze me.

So I'll start by saying I'm in NY not SE Florida though our insurance policy agreed values are probably close (mine is $650,000). I'm in the water from 4/1 to 11/31 (so 4 months on land) and must be North of the GA/FL state line between 6/1 and 10/1. My deductible is 1% of agreed value. My carrier is Travelers with an annual premium of $2375. I would imagine a comparable policy in SE Florida would cost about $4375 based on the adder I've been quoted for bringing the boat to FL for the winter. To that you'd have to add a hurricane premium which I would expect to be around $2000/year. So $7,000 seems high but it's not crazy high.....unless of course your agreed value is much lower than mine. Carter might be able to give you a more accurate idea of costs since he has wintered in SW Florida.

Our boat is a 1989 our last two insurance provides no longer offer this kind of coverage. Any one with an old boat do you still have coverage if yes who is your insurance provider

Hi Doug - I have a policy with BoatUS (Geico). $600K agreed value. I’m covered year around, US, Canada, Inland and coastal waters including Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. .5% deductible unless I’m in Hurricane season in FL, GA, AL, MS, Carolinas - then 5% deductible. $3171. 2017 was $2300, 2018 was $2800, 2019 was $3300, then $200 decrease for this year. No claims.

Would you mind sharing the name of the company you have that policy with?
"unplanned mechanical failure" sounds interesting.
Thank you!
