Out with the old to make way for the new. Raymarine analog equipment is out and new Garmin electronics coming in. Anyone need any Raymarine stuff, let me know.

Regarding the aft sofa, and this has been discussed several times in this thread. The "up" motion on the sofa back is a common issue on the 460DA and people will burn out a motor or controller over this. As previously described: with one hand reach and pull the sofa back upward from the full bed position, then operate the "up" switch in short bursts. Usually two or three shots gets it moving. Think of it as a lever and it just needs a bit of mechanical advantage to get it going.
Our dock neighbor just got a 460 '01 last season after liking our boat so much. His wife totally fried things on their maiden voyage because she kept leaning on that switch.....
Good luck with the upgrade project.

Jaws - that was the same on the 410's aft couch as well...

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

I've been toying with the idea of upgrading from a 360DA to a 460DA and haven't even seen one in the flesh. Been to several marinas lately looking for one. York River, Bluewater Hampton, Cavalier Virginia Beach, Marina Shores.... I was down at Tidewater Yacht Marina yesterday, low and behold I see a 460DA, and it has the exact name as my boat; Knot At Work (although I use the @ sign on my stern). It seems a lot bigger than my 360 but not the way a 580DB does!
You found me.

Lots of info on dropping valves on the 480CE's. It all comes down to overpropping from what i have read. SBMar and Boatdiesel are great resources on this topic. Searay did a poor job of propping a few of their models with this engine including the 390MY, 420/44DB are the ones i'm aware of. Heres an article on it: http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/calling-all-480ce-owners.69140/
My friend with a 39 MY is in the middle of a rebuild on his 480. Dropped a valve seat.

Did you get your boat from D.A.??

That's where my 39" is. The wires run to the starboard side to the stereo, DVD player and satellite box.

I need to correct my dimensions..I only installed a 32".. :)

Want to thank the Forum for some really good information on a variety of subjects. Most recently, I spent some time and money rebuilding the seals and ball on the guest head and replacing the duck bills. Not really my favorite thing to do especially since this is a new to us boat. I requested of my wife to inform our female guests that toilet paper should be disposed of in the waste pail and not in the toilet. After the first weekend with guests onboard, the vacuflush was pumping like crazy and tripping the circuit breaker. I researched the Forum and found that others had problems after guests spent some time onboard. One suggestion was to fill the bowl with water and then flush it. I did this several times but still had the same problem. I came back to the boat several days later and filled the bowl again and flushed it. This cleared the jam. Apparently the toilet paper had deteriorated enough so the force of the water pushed it thru to the holding tank.

Anyone have a foolproof method of preventing guests from flushing copious amounts of paper? I have also noticed other behavior from my non-boater guests that has left me scratching my head in wonderment. Two couples on a Saturday and two different couples on a Sunday. Both days someone put their feet up on the outdoor table, knowing full well that as soon as we dropped anchor that we were going to eat on that table. They wouldn't do that at home.

One other interesting phenomena: My slip is extremely tight and there are boats parallel docked on the other side of the Cove where the Marina is. Challenging is an accurate description when the wind is calm. Anyway, I always tell guests to be seated during docking maneuvers so I can have unobstructed visibility when backing into the slip. As soon as I start the backing in maneuver, at least one guest feels an obligation to stand up to "give me guidance." I try to be as diplomatic as possible but it get frustrating. Anyone else have problems with guests that want to help but cause problems. I do mention that I appreciate their exuberance in wanting ro help but the best way to help is to stay out of the way, stay seated, and let my wife and I handle everything as a team.
If they need to use more than a few (maybe 10) sheets, I tell them to flush that and then flush a 2nd time when done.

Upgrade nearly complete. Garmin 8612XVU replaces Raymarine E120 as well as all Raymarine electronics replaced with Garmin. New Autopilot. New Radar. Stereo speakers were removed to run wires and discovered to be dry-rotted. New speakers installed. Rear facing cameras installed to help with night time docking. New panel was cracked during installation so new panel is being made. New Garmin equipment not compatible with Raymarine Transducer so boat will be hauled next week for new Transducer installation. Garmin 215 VHF installed with hailer speaker on radar arch. Feedback is crazy and after researching discovered that hailer speaker must be a minimum of 10 feet from radio. Got to figure out how to deal with that problem. Also one of the installers broke some teeth on a zipper on my canvas. Dealing with the owner of the company on Monday to rectify problems. Although the workers were neat, my meticulous clean boat garnished all my attention today cleaning upholstery and vacuuming up fiberglass dust. Tomorrow will clean some more and should be finished. Ran the auto-routing on the Garmin today and then engaged the auto-pilot to follow the route. I'm amazed at the accuracy and my "job" of driving the boat just become a heck of a lot easier.

Hey 460 folks!

I removed the 6” lights in the salon. If anyone wants them let me know and all I want is the shipping.

Looks good and glad you are happy with the performance. How's the view on the mfd?

View is sharp, clear and bright on all except the 215 VHF. Would have preferred to see it brighter but it is an awesome radio...don't have to keep messing with the squelch.

Just wondering.......... how many from this group have a digital watchkeeping system fitted to your boat that is reporting back to you by text message.

I would be most interested in the usefulness of these systems and what errors onboard does it report back to you when you are not on the boat.

Let me know

Graham

I just have Blink cameras from Amazon. 2 outside the boat and 1 in the engine room. Works well for me.
