Who's NOT boating this season due to COVID?

concrete barricades at marina entrance, would have been nice to get a call or email. They were handing out tickets to fishermen with more than two persons on board because three people cant get 6 ft apart in a 17 ft boat.Splash scheduled for april 23rd but i striped bottom in fall and havent put new bottom paint on yet.I did get notice from slip marina where i own my slip that association dues are to be paid by april 30th though. They closed our dealership friday and layed off sales persons a week and a half before that.I did aerate the yard over the last two days though and will lay down 300 lbs of lime tomorrow and 120 lbs of fertilizer.I almost hit a tree with tractor though making boat shortlist shorter in my head anyway.

We are all adults in the room... this goes along with the argument as to what do we do to keep this economy from free falling. Do you take an extreme approach or a controlled sensible approach....

This is a portion of my marinas email today. This seems sensible to me.... concrete barriers at the gate...doesn’t

We are fortunate that our properties are open but this could end if we do not adhere to strict guidelines that have been shared with all. When you visit the properties, please remember the following:

  • No socializing in groups of more than two,
  • Observe social separation – 6 feet,
  • Keep yourself and your co-worker appropriately spaced when working on the boat,
  • No gatherings aboard boats, in the water or on land,
  • If you find that you and your slip mates are side by side and this does not allow for social distancing when you are aboard, please ask the marina for a temporary slip assignment.

We got an email today saying absolutely no one is allowed in the marina due to the governors orders. No exceptions

We can still get in next door if we need access to our boat. Have to call an make an appt with the general manager and they will let you in. Can’t stay all day and work on it tho.....Get what you need and be on your way...

How the fk can they keep us from OUR property? A keg party with 200 people is one thing. My sorry ass waxing my boat with nobody around is another.

Exactly. We were locked out friday. Someone complained hard and now we can get in but cant stay. We are OWNERS! You are trying to keep us from OUR property. I feel the same way, if im out there by myself waxing, working, doing whatever. Whats the difference? Just be smart and no congregating. This is going to cause legal problems for both Mac Ray and Belle Maer. Wait until they want my condo association fees in full come September.

It just irritates the hell out of me. I purposely chose a marine inside a state park/county forest preserve -- because there is nobody around. I get that they want the sales/service and all closed as "non-essential." But they barricaded the entrance road. I can't get close, to even check on my boat. It's bull chit.

Our marina has no Service center-only a small ships store, pump out, and gas. I spoke with the Marina Manager yesterday and she told me they are considered an essential business due to the “waste treatment facilities.” The docks are being patrolled to break up groups and people are expected to practice social distancing. 50% of the boats on our 26 slip dock are rarely visited more than once/month anyway. Other than our home, the dock/lake seem to be the safest place we have found yet.

Due to travel restrictions we can not get to our boat. It is full of fuel so hope by fall we will be able to use it. I do not like the idea of 300 gallons of old fuel next year. I know I can add stabilizer but; will it mix with the boat sitting on the hard. We anchor 95% of the time so safe distance is not a problem. We provision for 30 days at a time so limited contact with others except at fuel dock.

Below is what my marina is doing, I think it is very reasonable. So far the county is keeping boat ramps open and not trying to restrict boating, just saying adhere to the social distancing - same with parks and greenways. Unfortunately last weekend people were rafting up and partying hard at the sandbars and in the parks like it was July 4th. If that happens again this weekend I think things will get shut down.

Effective tomorrow at 8am we begin our new temporary schedule of operation. Below are the steps to follow when using our facility during this unprecedented time:

1. Dry Storage will remain open 7 days a week, with gas dock operating Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm for dry storage customers. If you anticipate needing fuel on the weekend when the gas dock is not opened, please call during operating hours. We will fuel your boat and charge your card on file to make sure that you are ready to go upon pickup!

2. We will not be utilizing text to launch or call ahead for dry storage services.

3. When you arrive on site, please call the Dry Storage line, XXX-XXX-XXXX, to notify a forklift driver of your arrival.

4. Once the boat is launched by forklift, we are asking that all boat owners walk their boat around the dock themselves to eliminate person to person contact.

5. Upon return, we're asking boat owners to park their boat at the dock, cover them, and walk them back to the designated forklift area for retrieval. Being that our protocols involve minimal interaction, it is your responsibility to bring your boat back during business hours for retrieval by forklift.

And one more thing, why did the governor close the cigar shops, thats probably gonna kill me.I think her hubby smokes them and she dont like it.

Our marina doesn't really have any amenities. We have a small pavilion with a small TV and fridge/freezer and we have a small grass area where they build a bonfire and play cornhole. We also have bathrooms with showers but that's it. We typically park, walk to our boat, say hi to a few people along the way, load up the boat and leave and don't talk to anyone again until we come back in then the same process in reverse when we leave.

Holt's Cigars in Philadelphia. Order online and they'll get em right out to you. I have 2 boxes on the way !

When we’re in Florida I order from Cigar Bid.
Have had a couple of cigars that didn’t burn right but overall good experience.
Unfortunately we left Florida in a rush when the virus hit so looks like will have to go through the summer without. (can’t afford them here and Cubans are mostly counterfeits).

I am definitely boating this year. I took my son out on a little ride around the harbor last week. Our marina is open and they are currently doing haul outs beginning April 1st. I’m planning to Do annual haul out sometime in April ..granted social distancing practices are in force.

We did have a 3 week trip planned for July through the BC Gulf Islands and US San Juans. That might change depending as we had several resort stays along the way as well. Likely will change the US (San Juan) portion of the trip and stick to the Canadian islands instead. Might also find ourselves more in anchorages with nice beaches instead of any marina/resorts.

i think you are going to find the marinas in BC closed. All non essential services closed by Federal order.

Yes haul outs not happening for sure and offices/facilities closed. I can still get to my boat though. Lots of live aboards and 150 or so float homes, so they really can’t close off access to the marina.

Just get the bad news my marina has closed the yard as per the DEC, The owner said the DEC is checking all marinas that no work is being done.
He does not even know when it will be open again.
I missed getting the boat in the water by one week.
That’s crazy where are you? first report I heard of something like that the Marina’s all around me are launching boats every day

My daughter and I went to get ready and heard park service was closing the boat ramp Monday so I said screw getting ready let’s go spent sat and sun on beautiful lake powell on my 300 sundancer with one of my fav people
