The "virus" What are your thoughts

So wife has said she has heard a few people saying they are hoping to get laid off during this because they will make more on unemployment. Around here I'd say the average income is about $35,000-40,000 per person. Works out to about $670-770/week. If they get unemployment I 'think' they get 60%? So ~$400/week unemployment plus the $600/week they are giving. So they will bring in about $1000/month more than they make while working? I know that $600 is short term and I would never hope to lose my job but geez.
Actually just checked and median household income in my town is $43,000.

Hydroxychloroquine works, if it didn't politicians like Cuomo and others wouldn't be discouraging it's use to the masses and doctors wouldn't be hoarding it.

The economy. Seems like some people aren't happy unless they're miserable. The current EMPLOYMENT numbers are equal to what they were 6 months ago. Lots of new entrants into the working pool. Many of those lost their jobs.

The U.S. dollar is remains strong as hell and the preferred currency.

Travel and Leisure is the hardest hit industry. Come summer, it will be the fastest to rebound as pent up demand and summer vacations and boat cruising by owners will explode.

Interest rates will continue to be at record lows.

Infrastructure Bill is on the table = JOBS.

Cures Act and Paycheck Protection Act.

Boomerang effect on China will bring many manufacturing jobs back to the U.S.

Real Estate/housing will gain traction as those who didn't lose their jobs look to either refi or upgrade

The U.S. economy was the strongest it had ever been prior to the shut down. The economic fundamentals (unemployment) will return.

Trump will win re-election in a landslide and the stock market will skyrocket as a result - again as it did for the past 3 years.

Lots to be optimistic about....unless you don't wish to.

Yeah, like I will take financial advice from a guy who puts an outboard in is signature as a prized possession.

I sure hope the economy comes back as fast as some say here. My opinion and trust me it's only my opinion because I am nowhere near a financial guru. I am an Operation Manager for a crane rental company. We have around 100 pieces of equipment and probably 50 some operators and Oilers. I would say that 95% of the equipment is idle because of the jobs shutting down and that means 95% of our employees are on unemployment. Way different than 6 months ago. Our guys are union and most of them make well over 100k a year. Unemployment isn't making up for their loss wages. Everyone of the ones I've talked to and I've tried to reach out to most of them, is not looking to go out and spend money when this is over. If anything I think they will save more for rainy days. They pretty much all have the same opinion. Here are some of the things I hear when talking about this subject. When sports start back up are you going to go in a stadium full of people, when restaurant open back up are you going to go sit and eat with a bunch of people, you going to the bar and hangout with a group, you going to go get on a cruise, airplane or go to the casino? I realize we are all going to do these things, but I think it's going to take time for people to become comfortable doing what they used to do. I also think that almost everyone on CSR is probably doing a little better off financially than alot of people in this world. I have a feeling this is affecting alot of people way harder than it is us. I think it's going to be a little slower recovery than I'd hoped for. I'm not trying to be a naysayer and I do hope I'm wrong. Good luck everyone and Stay Safe.

I heard a presentation about the difference between being poor and being broke.
Being broke is a temporary thing.
Being poor is a mentality.

Money is a relative thing. Big fish in the pond, small guy in the ocean thing.

The real problem here is the MSM has convinced everyone that if you contract the virus you have been sentenced to death. Yes, it is a serious problem, its spread is asymptomatic, and unless you are not immuno comprised, you'll be fine. Ebola is way the F worse.

I know I won't be running out to crowded places as soon as this is over. It will take a little time before I feel comfortable enough. Wait till a few canaries enter that mine and come back out unscathed before I enter. I'm sure some will get right back to business as usual but I think many will take it slow. I think we get a slow controlled recovery, which would likely be more sustainable in the end. We will see

All the survivors of Corona will now have immunity. That’s a helluva lot of people. Some don’t even know it.

The recovery has already started. See consumer confidence uptick, it’s early in the curve but on the initial upswing.

I hope this is the case but there is no proof that if you survive it you get immunity or how long that lasts. Antibody tests should be coming available soon. There is one company in MN that is using a test to check for antibodies. I think I may have had a mild case of it last week, so I may pay for them to test me ($100 and they come to my house and it takes 15 minutes). I guess its the same test the Chinese were using.....87% accuracy. who knows...

yes ebola is worse but it is MUCH harder to get. you have to come in physical contact with a person with symptoms. It isn't spread by people who are symptomatic.

Dr Birx said last week that you’ll have a 99.9% immunity.

I challenge each of you to have A Covid-19 free day today. Don't talk about it. Don't post in this thread. Let's get this thread down to the 3rd or fourth page by the end of the day.

Well here's one for the hyroxyclorquine doesn't work file.
I cant figure out why the biased on a FDA approved drug... what's the difference between hyroxyclorquine and penicillin? ...it's just defies logic

Because some people are so evil they’re willing to tolerate a global pandemic, people dying, and deny an existing drug works all for their political derangement.
